The "assured destruction" is about unacceptable losses to infrastructure and population. It means the country is screwed, but doesn't mean absolutely everyone dies.
In the early years of the cold war they gamed and calculated and strategized under the assumption that one side could win if the balance of "megadeaths" was favorable. The famous band is named after that.
I guess these are things only people over 40 know. Watch the Day After, a fairly accurate description of the aftermath of a nuclear exchange, to people in an urbanized area. You need to dodge the fallout long enough for the energy to dissipate.

I like to make up theories about these thing. Anti-radiation is as stated, every particle of radiation has an equal and opposite particle, that cancels out the existence of radiation. So I’d be interested in testing out the nuclear fallout shelter I’ve built, out of residual material from fires (charcoal, fired soil, ash) along with corresponding animals (fighting chickens, koi, goldfish) to diffuse impact. I have made up a lot of anti rad devices out of fire residual, rocks, sand, dirt. I’d honestly be down to apply radioactive material, to see if it works. Meaning I’d finish my workout… I have burnt uranium, it did hurt me once or twice, but I wasn’t sure if it was chemically or from radiation? If there is such things as anti-rad, I would apply radiation to epicenter of it, to spread anti rad by suppression thus evolution, may stop nuclear fallout radiating centers for anti-rad specifically.
I’ve always been scared, that all the movies are real. Enemy territory is radioactive territory. That the empire could radiate or destroy the earth with elements only made in deep space, from dark water. Elements that destabilize a whole area around inclusion. The thesis is in gold fault streams, the relative path of water is predetermined, so if you put a well box with alt inlets and outlets, at a fracture, especially when dealing with satanic activity, as outlet to create dark water. Substances that are not forming types of radiation that are currently tested for. Go to school or something. The Day After, as I already explained, shows what happens if you stick around an urban area. Also if you leave shelter too early, like the guy at the military base did. He went out right into the fallout snowstorm and tried to protect himself with a blanket! Dummy.
All the dying people were in hot zones and didn't leave them. And even so, they didn't all die. Acute radiation sickness is survivable.

No. I'd train through most things, but I'd end a workout early upon finding out that DC has been struck by a nuclear missile.

Definitely would finish, cool down,stretch\roll and DOUBLE the protein recovery drink. Upload a quick note about workout, "felt awful like someone dropped a nuclear bomb on me. Will take tomorrow off"
I would run myself into the absolute ground and see how far I could push myself. probably have the best workout of my life. that’s if I was about ten years younger.
I have kids now and that really ruins the die alone peacefully doing the stuff you love romanticism. So I’d probably have to stop and rush home, plan an escape or spend the remaining time with my family.

Depends a lot on how I hear about it and my level of confidence. If I'm skeptical I might finish, whereas if I hear from a credible source and believe it I'd stop.
One consideration is that my local track is 1000 meters from my house - so I may use the run home to get a hard last rep in (would be practical anyways to get home more quickly).
