I'm a freshman in track and I want to run a mile in 5 minutes flat or under. Yesterday I ran a 5:30 in a race, though I don't think I fully pushed myself. My current running shedule for preseason and on my own time is this
Monday-Rest or bike ride
Tuesday- 25 minute tempo run
Wednesday-1 hour run at a slow pace
Thursday- Speed work, usually 400's and 800's
Friday- Rest
Saturday- Rest or bike ride
Sunday-1 hour run at a slow pace
I know its pretty unrealistic but I'm not in very good shape and have three months. Even with the low probability of succeeding, does anyone have any ideas of what would give me the highest chance of succeeding?
