Wow, his initial excuse is one of the all-time greats!
(1) I went to a hospital for a Covid vaccination
(2) Instead, I was treated for Covid
(3) That treatment included an EPO administration.
Hahahahahaha!
In defense of the doctor, everytime he has shown up for the bast decade it has been for an EPO shot. How was he supposed to know zane just wanted COVID this time...
If you look closely you can see the EXACT moment Zane started to dope. When he ran a sub 60 minute half in non-super shoes in 2015.
Sir, what evidence do you have for that claim? - because if it is not supported by evidence then it is just speculation which is worthless.
The fact that you used capitals for the word "exact" also diminishes the credibility of your statement.
True, he was probably doping well before then.
This one stings a bit. We were all familiar with their story. Move to Kenya at a young age with nothing but a dream. It's something we all probably wish we could do -- drop everything & pursue a goal, not caring about anything but making it. Really disappointing to see that this is the end result.
I would say to forever, first and foremost be known as a cheat, it is definitely not worth it.
He will be treated like a pariah in the sport for the rest of his life.
Look at Shelbo's life currently. Think she regrets it?
I don't think she regrets doping. She earned quite a lot of money, got national records, and can now move on with her life as a grad student. The sport too isn't exactly unforgiving, see Kersee and Baumann and Mitchell and Gatlin and Gay and Kisorio etc.
With her comical burrito story, she can still deny and deny to her family and neighbors and friends (except runners of course). So no problem there either.
But she surely - like Zane - regrets her screw-up that led to the positive test, whatever that was exactly (over-dosing and or opening the door to the tester?).
Zane's situation is somewhat worse, because he can't pretend anymore that he was clean. His whole family and all neighbors and friends know that he is a cheat.
In 2007, Alan Webb ran 1:43.84/3:30/3:46.91 AR/13:10, while Bernard Lagat won double gold at the World Championships in the 1500m and 5000m. It seemed like the golden days were upon us.
I cannot make a judgment on whether Zane Robertson's retirement was worth it or not, as it depends on various factors and personal circumstances. However, I can provide some information about his retirement. Zane Robertson is a New Zealand long-distance runner who announced his retirement from professional athletics in March 2023. He had a successful career, including setting multiple national records and competing in several major international competitions such as the Olympic Games and World Championships.
