he said it in a tiktok that apparently he just flew out for races? Does this not seem kinda weird to anyone else?

He mentioned the same in a recent video. Does this break any NCAA rules?
I guess not but I'm surprised people dont do this more often; like why not live in Flag/Boulder?
maybe because of a thing called school?
Well, he wasn't that good for Tennessee, so no big deal.
Of course you can't
Saw this too, anyone know the deal here?

He literally ran 7:42 last week.
I agree it looks very fishy but I can’t imagine that no one questioned this at the time. From what he says it seems like he was in fact eligible to run at both schools at the same time - last semester at Texas finishing a degree doesn’t have to be full time - enrolled full time in some program at Tennessee. Seems like if you’re in this situation then the ncaa just says: athletes choice - you pick. I don’t know that there’s an actual rule about this but I can’t imagine Tennessee didn’t check with the ncaa or get some approval. It would be FAR too obvious it was happening.
Seems like it would be easy to check in retrospect, but hard in advance for an outside body. Is this a case of Tennessee looking for forgiveness rather than permission?
Again I'm guessing here, but having been around long enough I can't imagine Tennessee's compliance wasn't fully aware of what was going on. Remember, before each season you have to certify your roster that everyone is eligible. Also remember he's a transfer (not sure whether he's considered a grad transfer since he hadn't finished his degree) so right off the bat compliance is involved to make sure he meets all transfer requirements. That's the only way they can know he's eligible to compete right off the bat. Unless people involved lied about aspects of it to compliance - they knew everything before he was even enrolled at Tenn.
The real issue is it's just another seemingly shady, rule-breaking, or gray area incident involving that program: whereabouts filings, the rumors of only using NIL money to attract/pay XC scholarships (which as far as I know isn't happening, but hey it's only year 1 for them). Naturally with the past incidents we're all quick to say: WTF. I think since it's been put out there publicly Tenn should give an explanation but I wouldn't hold my breath.
Weird. When I ran in grad school, they made me get a release from my undergrad university even though I’d graduated and more importantly that they had cut the men’s program a couple years beforehand. They wanted a release from a program that didn’t exist.
It's legal through NCAA Bylaw 14.2.2.3
Pretty dumb to pay for all of those flights to be on a team that was 20th when the other school you attend was 18th.
14.2.2.3 doesn't seem to be applicable. He wasn't using any credits from Texas to fulfill eligibility requirements at Tenn, he was taking them to finish his degree at Texas. These credits wouldn't be shown on his Tenn transcript as counting for X class there or to meet the 12 hour requirement. What 14.2.2.3 speaks to is if, say, someone takes a class at another school because they can't fit it into their schedule. If their original institution they compete for says: yes we'll count that as X - then it can be used to meet the 12 hour requirement or PTD at the institution as long as that class appears on the transcript. Doesn't seem like the case here.
It would be great if there was an easily identifiable bylaw that applies here, but there doesn't seem to be anything that speaks exactly to this situation - just things near this situation. End of the day - the kid wanted to leave Texas, but seems like he was too far into his degree to be eligible from a PTD standpoint at a new institution (not uncommon), and he didn't have a degree so he wouldn't be a grad transfer so they found a strange middle ground that it seems no one had pondered before.
I wonder if schools have some way to pay for flights through “NIL” deals?
The great thing about a redneck cupcake school like Tennessee is that you don't have to do any work to pass, unless, of course, you have a brojo brain, in which case you would need mommy to pay off the profs or, in a very unbrojolike manner do some actual work.
Seems obvious to me, he’s completing his degree (non-full time) at Texas and is fully enrolled at Tennessee. He’s likely receiving scholarship from only Tennessee and not Texas and if I had to guess he’s getting $$ from an NIL collective out of Tennessee that’s paying for double housing plus flights back and forth. Also he’s pretty prominent on YouTube and IG so I’m sure he’s monetized that with private deals as well. Everyone just wants a story out of this- if it was sketchy or illegal he wouldn’t be dumb enough to talk about it.
Didn't Galen "attend" Oregon while living in Portland?
Didn't Salazar fly Galen to Boise in private jet for a track workout because weather was better in Boise than Portland that day?
Hey, it was an important workout.
Are we comparing Yaseen to Galen?
His dad just unexpectedly passed away. The last thing Yaseen needs is a LRC thread started about him.
