What workouts would you recommend to improve the length/power out of your stride? I have a good high cadence but if I want to run fast for the distance events I want my strides to be stronger. What kind of strength/pylometrics is good?

Hills hills hills.
Whether it's short and super fast reps or longer, strength oriented reps, hills are a great way to get power and practice good mechanics.
Any explosive ploys will help, as will olympics lifts. Just be careful about form and safety.
Lydiard Hills
I would do some bounding for height or length. Also known as trying to jump as high as you can for a couple steps on each leg and then trying to jump for as long as you can on both sides.
