The 1000m was part of a sanctioned meet in Melbourne, they had a number of 1000m races and then about 8 5000m races afterwards, organised by a local club but well organised and has become an annual event over the past few years.
She is definitely another Garritson, the family clearly pushes their children into running and the fact that they allow/condone/force her to wear bun huggers and a crop top at age 9, as if she's an elite athlete, is very telling. Female NCAA runners can't wear a crop top. And no, I have nothing against buns or crops, it just looks ridiculous on a 9 year old running a 2:32 800.
We can’t know yet exactly what outcome to expect. Most high school seniors don’t even achieve such times, even with significant training. Thus, I’m impressed - no matter what happens down the road.
Good luck to her. Hopefully she's not another Carrie Garritson.

As long as she doesn't grow up to judge 11 year olds for what they wear or how fast they run she'll remain a long way ahead of you.
Ever consider that there might not be anything nefarious, it's actually a great thing, or is it just convenient for your ego to believe someone having success must be doing it the wrong way?
You are p#ss weak, I'd love to have this conversation to your face.
This is most possibly not the beginning of anything, like with 99% of these child prodigies.
He just came in 14th at Footlocker South as a Sophomore, the highest finishing non Junior or Senior. He's doing just fine and will be a force in track this year and the next few years.
