11yr old Australian Sophie Hall just ran a 4:28 1500m and 9:38 3000m to break two age group world records. Let's hope it's the start of more incredible things to come!

Looks like about a 4:51 for 1600 and 10:20 for 3200
Age 9 800m:
So she’ll run 9:10 at 14 and then never come close to 9 again
She"s fast, I"m faster

Wow that's some crystal ball you have there! She may peak early, she may go on to be a world beater or anything inbetween. Let's just be happy for her current outstanding performances.
Look, I hope she does well, but I can’t think of one girl who ran great times before high school and didn’t burn out. Ping comes to mind immediately

Think harder.
Katelyn Touhy.
Mary Decker.
Raevyn Rogers.
Jordan Hasay.
There's 4 right there.

We heard you the first time and you were already proved to be wrong.
So why post the same incorrect statement a second time?
Can't keep up with all these young phenoms. Seems there is a new one every other day.

Usually girls who break records are super frail and look like lungs on legs. Sophie looks incredibly strong for her age—looks way older than 11, and definitely older than the 11 year old boy who just broke the 2-mile age word record:
Hopefully that strength will bode well for her longevity.
her progress depends on her training. If she's running 30 mpw or less and just kind of having fun, she could progress.
If she's training like a 17 year old top runner who's been running since 7th grade, she won't prgoress.
I agree. Although an 11 year old running those times without a hard training schedule (40+ miles a week/speed sessions) is hard to believe. I've seen many young girls running fast in Illinois over the last 30 years. Most don't produce by Junior/Senior year of high school. The ones that did were usually soccer players in junior high. Ran cross country and track putting in about 15 to 20 miles a week + soccer practice 5 to 7 days a week. Puts them around 30-40 mpw.
She is a triathlete
Any relation to Linden Hall? It would make sense.
she's not a triathlete, very competitive at the aquathlon at national level last year, champs again in a month, we'll see
still should progress as a runner though, sisters and mother were very good but got injured... gene pool gets better and better! has younger brother who is also setting local records but not quite at sophie's scale
