What did you think about Shea’s race today? I didn’t see the race, but she was only a couple seconds back. Did Riggs handle her fairly easily, and could have distanced herself, or was it a real battle? If the latter, then Shea (9months younger) might be an even bigger story.
Maybe the upcoming track season will provide a better answer to your question specifically.
I just compared some of Shea’s times from this year, with Tuohy’s times from 2019 (since Tuohy is almost three years older), and it appears Shea is as fast, if not faster, than Tuohy was. Anybody else concur?
If you don't want Tuohy mentioned then don't gratuitously mention her in a thread. Easy as that. All the top high school runners this year are pretty good. On the other hand, not sure if I would bother as a high school student to travel to Australia to run in the XC Jr. Worlds in the middle of the track season. But I guess kudos to all who participated.
“How incredible an experience it is to represent your country in a race? That's exactly what it is. I want to run for Team USA someday, like on the Olympic team or a Worlds team. And I feel like a junior team is exactly how you get there. I could not be, I could not be more thrilled about this opportunity."
Tuohy's best hs times were not as a senior. Tuohy as a junior (age 16) ran 9:01 for 3000. Shea's pr at this point is 9:08 I believe. But by any measure Shea is very good.

Their relative DOB PB’s in the indoor mile and two mile are within seconds of each other. I haven’t investigated much about Shea, yet, whether she could trend like a Hutchins, Tuohy or Cook. What do you think?
She’s clearly above average for a national champion, although I would hesitate to place her on the same tier as Tuohy, Trotter, Fairchild, and maybe 1-2 more. She’s more like Hutchins or Cook level.

Not sure if I would bother to take the opportunity to represent my country, for the first time, on the biggest stage, and get a taste of the bests in the world, the future olympic medalists, with 6 new friends and teammates, on the other side of the globe, to possibly live the most incredible experience of my life yet.
No, I’d rather run an indoor mile in February at a local meet.

And to add, in the process, get some great footage for an upcoming L&L video! 😄

So far, going forward, Hutchins is not turning out to be Cook level, which is a pretty good level.
