This is also not someone that blew his money in dodgy investments etc, this is part of the SSL fraud, ie some of Bolt's money was tied up in there via his management who actually alerted the company a couple of times about issues. It's not like he was throwing his money around. It was fraud within an investment firm.
Perhaps a good idea before responding to have a read of linked article, and other info.
Just about everything out there is reporting this was his "life savings".
Accounting, business law, economics, finance and math in that order are more important than anything else that can be taught in school.
Maybe you never went to school? I don't know of a high school in my part of NY state that doesn't teach those courses.
Ok, but on a typical academic track, the only one of those courses that there is space for is math. The other classes are all taught as part of the vocational track. If a high school even has the classes--I think only accounting was taught in my high school. Moreover, at my college (a top liberal arts college), there were no classes on accounting, business law, or finance. I agree with "applied economics": more of these courses should be taught.
They are guessing at his net worth. Only his accountant really knows for sure, and he could be stealing from him. He wrecked a luxury car, lost money here, likely lost money on his scooter company, etc. Yes, his agent has money coming in through sponsorship deals, but never underestimate a former athlete's ability to run through a fortune in a short period of time. I don't think he has a college education, and he spends most of his time dancing, DJing and playing video games. Tyson went broke. Maradona went broke. AI went broke. Good at sports does not mean one is good with money.
Yes, but their guesses are better than yours. He's worth almost $100 million and if they were wrong, as you may believe, then he'd be fine with $50 million.
Do you have even $10 million to lose? I don't, but if I had $50 million and knew what an average mutual fund would net me, I wouldn't have much to worry about now would I?
And if he's lost more than he's admitting to, oh well. I'm not shedding a tear as there is real suffering in this world, he's just a headline to create a buzz.

None of us are in a position to know how much he has. Regardless, as mentioned on the 1st page, Bolt is still extremely marketable. He has good future earning potential. I'm sure it sucks for him, but he'll be fine.
Why would we expect professional runners to be any different than basketball players, football players, tennis players, etc. Just because someone is a great athlete doesn't mean that they have a clue about finance or investing. Maybe he can get a job advertising for crypto exchanges.
sprinters vs. distance runners
not the same
Do you think someone is scamming jared ward out of $10M? Well, he would never get $10M in the first place, but if he did, it's not happening.

There are people suffering in this world living paycheck by paycheck and barely getting by. Terrible times and terrible leadership with hardships, REAL hardships, all over the place and he's whining????
His net worth is estimated at $90 MILLION DOLLARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Maybe it will motivate him to come out of retirement. Imagine him moving up to the thon and battling with Bekele. He should do London next year. Or if the thon is too long for him he could get paid as a pacer for a portion of the race and get appearance fee's.
