What is going on at UNH? Rob Hoppler is one of the most respected coaches in the nation, having coached Elinor Purrier to an NCAA championship in college. He was suddenly demoted. It feels like there's more to the story that...
Shaun Wicen has been named a Recruiting Coordinator and Assistant Coach for the Colorado Buffaloes Cross Country and Track & Field programs, head coach Mark Wetmore
WILLIAMSTOWN, MASS. -- "I am extremely pleased to announce that Dusty Lopez has accepted the position as the next Head Cross Country Coach at Williams,"
Good to see that Williams has gotten XC sorted. A few months ago they announced that the head women's track coach was also leaving (moving to another role w/in the college, not coaching), so is there any word yet on who is filling that role at Williams? That's a lot of change, especially if you're a female distance runner.
ADs dont get involved with the hiring of assistant track coaches.
I think they are busy overseeing FB, MBB, WBB, budgets, Title IX, etc.
Anyone of you that believes this lie is a fool. All hires are approved for all sports, the AD is in charge of the department budget, I have no idea why you would think track is somehow too low to be a concern of the department head. Quite frankly it is a stupid and childish thought process. Grow up
I was a XC coach at a DI mid major. We won Mens XC conference my second year on the job. I hand delivered the AD the trophy…. He thought I was on the team. AD’s do not care at all about XC and track and most schools.
He did get a 10k bonus for us winning though, not that he said thank you or anything

I was once given "sensitive" information from an a.d. who thought I was our teams head coach. I was the assistant at the time, and this little mistake inadvertently showed me just how much the actual head coach was lying behind my back.

I want to know what schools you've coached at and I want to coach there. I've coached in several different divisions/levels for over 20 years, from tiny DII's to DI P5 (multiple), and not once did my AD ever ask about the assistant hires we made. Yeah, maybe the final paperwork needed their signature...but it was a rubber stamp signature. Sounds like you've had a more positive experience with your admin realizing you exist & caring about your success...I'm jealous.
