An interview with Tom Courtney as guest. Contrary to what many on this site believe, there are two living U.S. 800m gold medalists. T Courtney, in his late 80's is getting younger.
This may not look good on me but I had no idea that we had another 800 gold medallist still alive. Wasn't familiar with him at all.
Okay, there needs to be a rule that none of the moderators should be able to post anonymously. With the way yall can track IPs and what not, this is a no brainer.
Good idea. Also, if a mod posts in a certain thread, they should not be able to delete posts in that thread (to "win" an argument).
Mods can see every post that was deleted so if a mod was doing this it would be pretty apparent to me unless it was in some obscure thread. Perhaps we should let everyone see all the deleted posts in a few threads for illustrative purposes to show the crap that gets deleted.
It isn't mods deleting stuff to win an argument. I would revoke mod privileges for that.

mods ABSOLUTELY do that. There is enough traffic on here; you can't personally catch it all
I'm talking about accusations that are unfounded. As in- someone runs fast and the drug talk starts.
We have great discussions going and someone has to hijack it with an accusation of drug use.
We should probably removed just unfounded accusations.
But say Makloufhi does his thing at the Olympics and people are suspicious as hell. I think people should be allowed to discuss it.
But in every thread about him they shouldn't be able to just sidetrack things by saying "doper".
We've said it is our policy to allow all doping discussion but we should still remove off topic posts. Is this a proper way to handle it?
But then again if someone just throws in some Burrito comment about the BTC I find it easier to just leave it up then delete it and have a person then post "Why did you delete it?"

Speaking of comments being deleted. If the deleted post is quoted in a subsequent post, the deleted comment remains as a quote. There should be a function that if a post is deleted, it is also deleted if it was quoted. As it is now, the original post needs to be deleted as well as the post that shows the quote.
For those that post as an unregistered user, like me, it would be nice if when posting we didn't get the message that is something like "someone else has already posted in this thread with that username from a different device." It happens even on the the same device and a period or some other change needs to be made to the username. There are also error messages about only posting under one username even if the same username is used and posting from the same device.
A certain "M"od involved themselves in a thread and started attacking people who did not support his "decision" on the "only name" that certain T&F equipment can be called. He delete comments saying other names were okay. He then had the audacity to post, "see, most people agree with me," -- after manipulating the thread. I called him out for that. The brojos permanently banned me because I "picking on" a mod.
Once again if someone is doing this I will warn them and then revoke their mod privileges. I have asked people to email me wejo@letsrun.com and received nothing.
We've always said we will let people make drug accusations or discuss drug issues. We used to receive hate emails for letting people discuss Lance Armstrong.
I guess we really should let people say "I think Lance Armstrong is a doper" . Than "Lance Armstrong is a doper" but with the latter without evidence they are saying "(I think) Lance Armstrong is a doper"
But should we let people in every BTC thread throw in the "dopers" comment? We could tighten it up.
okay, then: Malmo is a doper
CANNOT DELETE
If you are doing to go off topic in a thread we are going to delete the post. I am restoring your post but it's not what this thread is about at all. If you're in a thread where malmo is posting and you just post "malmo you're a doper", it's off topic.
Same thing if he said "You're screen handle is weird". It would and should get deleted.
The point of most threads is to debate the content not the poster.
There are a lot of threads that objectify women. You haven't seen the threads that mention how hot this runner is or how that runner is overweight? Again, they're women and athletes, not objects. It isn't a surprise that elite women runners hate this forum and that there are so few women that post here.
You say there "a lot of threads" that objectify women.
I'm not saying there aren't any but can you find me one. I am not trying to be an ass on this. I'll send you a letsrun tshirt because I want to see what threads you are talking about. I really disagree there are "a lot of them" but send me one (has to be from the original poster to get the shirt).
It's an impossible task to begin with. Also, it's completely subjective according the whims of an each moderator. The RUNNING ONLY option provides a safe space for those who are easily triggered by opposing opinions.
Pot, meet kettle... 😂 This is too funny. You're one of the most triggered and angry posters on these forums.
Have you ever thought that the "running only" option is also good for those that want to read about running and not the doltish drivel that sometimes populates these forums?
Personal attacks are the #1 thing that sidetrack posts and probably what we delete the most.
People say they want more "positivity". Yet your screen name is talking about how this place is a cesspool and then you go after another poster?
This is the type of stuff we want less of.
But some of the posters who complain the most about the tone on here are constantly attacking others in threads.

Never heard about the unregistered thing but to be honest I would say we're not going to devote a lot of resources to that. You can post unregistered and if you register you won't have any issues.
Maybe this has already been suggested but improved search functionality like 'advanced search' or something. Be able to search titles, body, for posts by users, timeframes for example. Boolean search also.
I also don't know SQL wildcards so if you can do all that with wildcards maybe linking to a page with 'how to' guide so users can make better use of the search. I find I have to wade through a lot of posts sometimes.

I've pushed some bug fixes that should make the post editor more reliable. A couple bugs crept in when we made some performance improvements. Here's what is fixed.
Some people have reported some issues with quoting not working correctly. I've been able to reproduce this and it's been fixed.
We've also documented some issues where the reply editor doesn't correctly respond to input. I've addressed this as well.
Likewise, in rare circumstances a post would appear to show up twice even though it was posted once. This has been addressed. (This was separate from people double-posting because of slow responses times, especially in large threads.)
My task lists for the coming days/weeks include:
A way for us to attach messages to certain replies (for example, when people express suicidal thoughts)
Show reasons for threads being deleted on the thread page. (Deleted threads will be removed from the index, but the former page will show why it was deleted.)
We're exploring these ideas:
Post editing. If we do this, we will likely limit the time in which a post can be edited and include a way to denote why edits were made.
Search within threads. It would be nice to be able to quickly filter posts within threads when looking for a post.
Search of the forum. The current search engine is very limited and needs reworking. In the short term, we may be able to make some tweaks to improve it. In the long-term, the "right" way to improve this is to use a product like Elasticsearch that is better designed to find string relevance and deal with issues like typos.
