He's talking about a division 3 school. No one there is receiving an athletic scholarship. Essentially, everyone is "walking on". Are you implying that students at division 3 (and Ivy League) schools should not participate in athletics at all?

I think college football coaches should tell some of their athletes to identify as non binary. That’d make title IX compliance eaiser
Silly even if D1 to say it. I guess I shouldn't go for a run today because I am not a pro. I shouldn't cook dinner for my family. I won't drive my neighbor to the doctor.

Well in this case, NYU, it’s a D3 school. They don’t give out scholarships
Not referring to D3. Those kids are essentially getting money, just from grants instead of athletics money. I was referring to D1,D2 and NAIA as far as walk ons.
Simply being able to walk would more than exceed their standards
Irrelevant. Joe student pays x at NYU the same as Joe athlete so they run for no reward. Joe student at NAU pays x the same as Joe walkon at NAU who runs for no reward.

What do you mean
If the coach doesn't respond to your email, pick up the phone and call the offices. If this is something you care about, then escalate this beyond an impersonal email. It's a life lesson that will put you way ahead of most of the kids your age.
Don't listen to the people in here who say the coach doesn't owe you a response. Responding to these kinds of questions is part of his job requirements. If he doesn't want you on the team, he can tell you that.
I usually don't want to nitpick on grammar on these message boards ... but holy hell, do you know how to write English?
NYU is a great school. If you can get in and afford, I would go. I wouldn't pass up the chance to go there based on if you can join the track team. Not sure why the coach would br opposed to you being on the team though...
No it isn't his job to respond. His job is to win. Does the coach owe you a response also? How about if I call him asking about the school? How about directions to the school?
Ok. But that’s not this posters situation
Coaches are lazy. They get paid the same regardless if they respond to kids or not.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
