Why would he take an assistant coaching job under Jerry when he is the head distance coach at Florida currently? Only reason I can think of is Jerry wants Solinsky to take over for him at some point at Oregon
Well, since he is not director at Florida and because UF is so sprints/jumps focused he will never have true job security. Can always get fired by the director or get cleared out if the director is fired. Better to take a gig with someone he knows and trusts and likely not that much lower of a salary. Also puts him in a place to be successor
If true the incentive would be to be with Schumacher again, to be in position to succeed Schumacher as head coach a few years down the line, and it would situate him to coach one of the Oregon based pro teams.
She will go where Solinsky is. Like it or not, Valby is nothing without Sokinsky. She wanted to quit until Solinsky promised her something, and the rest is history.
Valby talked about it on The Running Effect. After constant injuries in her first year, she went to Solinsky and said she's quitting the team. Obviously, Solinsky did not let that happen. Valby then went on to run a personal best after personal best, still getting injured here and there but the difference is she was dropping crazy amount of time.
PV is a rare, but green talent. She has the potential to contend for the Paris team, but she needs to be training/racing amongst America’s best distance women. A transfer to Oregon might provide more opportunities for that to happen. Alternatively, in order to train at altitude, she would need to transfer to NAU, Colorado, etc
