I like Moore's story: nine-flat/sub-fifteen guy in HS who probably could have landed at most D-I programs around the country (?), but chose to go D-II--I guess he wanted to stay close to home? I hope it works out for him and hope that he does well on the D-II national level in his upcoming seasons.
I also like it the Walsh University (formerly College!) is the 21st century version of Malone University (also formerly College!) and is giving the mediocre D-1 distance running programs of Ohio a run for their money (no pun intended).

While Malone had some outstanding XC teams in the past, some of the best in Ohio and even this part of the country regardless of the division, and it looks like Walsh is now taking over that position, the schools are quite a bit different from one another.
Malone is a conservative Christian school. The term “evangelical” has been misused and has gotten a bad reputation lately, but that is the school that Malone is. It is similar to Wheaton in Illinois and Lee in Tennessee,!in that aspect. Chapel is mandatory, alcohol is forbidden on campus, I believe there are strict rules about the hours that the opposite sex is allowed in each others dorms, and all of that. While Walsh is a Catholic school, it is nothing like that. The strictness of Malone is a turnoff for many. The retirement Hazen from Walsh has also had a negative impact on that program.
With the recent announcement that Akron is bringing back its XC program, that may negatively affect the Walsh program down the road. Walsh has more than likely benefited by Akron not having a program and there will be increased competition for recruits if Akron comes back as a strong program like it once was.
That's a lot of programs in a tight vicinity: from Canton to North Canton to Akron to Kent. Can they up their attractiveness and worth for Ohio's top HS track athletes to seriously consider?
While there are many different variables that people are correctly listing, another is the program training philosophy doesn't matches up with the athletes skills, abilities and physical/emotional maturity.
An athlete may choose the program based upon their name/reputation but don't realize that their training system isn't good for them and they get hurt because of the high milage or may never fully developed.
Some schools are meat grinders and only a few survive/thrive but enough for the program win and find replacements!
Finally, some HS athletes develop early while others enter school late based upon their birth month and standout but when they get to college everyone catches up to them.
One of the biggest challenges facing Ohio athletes when it comes to breaking records is the weather. Last year of all the meets my son competed in there was either strong wind, rain, freezing conditions or a combination of the above. Districts and regionals, where the level of competition should be more condusive to records, the weather was awful. Only the state meet had good weather for runners, so I would guess that any records came from that 1 meet.
1.) 'Mano A Mano' is two individuals competing directly against each other. Two 4x800m relays racing each other is...not that.
2.) Or you could just race during the actual season?
You and your boyz can also be there and we’ll also kick your azz!!
You may have a strong 4x8 this year but for a team that didn't podium at indoor or outdoor last year, you may want to stay quiet and let your results on the track speak for itself. Show us how good you are at Indoor or even better at Outdoor state.
You sound like a HS athlete trying to hype himself up in his own mind to be good!
This is unacceptable! everyone knows that Kilbourne has the MUCH superior team in ever way. I would challenge Coffman to a 4x8, but it isn't necessary when everyone knows that Kilbourne is greater. Mr. King Smith could beat Coffman's 4x8 completely solo! How about you Coffman "people" get off Letsrun and do something valuable with your life!

Wow, this is incredibly immature behavior from a Coffman student. If you don't apologize to me immediately, I will be forced to contact Mr.Parill and will have you suspended. You have been warned.
The Shamrocks? As in Shamrock Shakes from McDonald's? The Glam Rocks. The Ham Hocks. Am really eager to see how the OHSAA D1 4x800m relay final in June 2023 shapes up.
The Pick North (Eberhardt) kid is tough. Without Plant and Christian in the mix, he could win.
I think some of last years milers need to be considered also. With Plant and Christian in the mix they knew they were running for 3rd. This year its a lot more open
