I'm not sure why I am posting here when there are four guys near here that are choking. I should probably be do the Heimlich on them. Oh, it's the Kilbourne 4x8 team! 🤣
Dropped baton. Not sure that as choking.
My immediate response to this was: "well, the first 8 teams that ran a sub-8 didn't have any problems with dropped batons."

Well, I suppose that's because no one else inadvertently ran into the idle Westerville North leadoff runner. You really have a thing against Kilbourne don't you? You must be a Scioto kid tired of losing OCC titles to them year after year.

Nah, I neither have a thing against Kilbourne nor am I from Scioto. I'm not even from the SE regional.
I've said it before: if they do well, I'll cheer on Kilbourne. But with people hyping them up here, it was a low-hanging fruit and something easy to push back on.
It's too bad about that dropped baton, exchange issues do happen, but it was a pretty unfortunate time for it to occur.

I watched Gabelman's video a few times. It looked like Miller didn't run quite as strong a leadoff leg as last week's 1:56, so the chaos of exchanges was at full tilt. Smith had to veer significantly to avoid runners who had handed off a split second ahead of them, and his right hand hit the Westerville North kid.
Either way, they weren't advancing without their top guys running their best. Their freshman anchor got swallowed and ran maybe 2:08. Perhaps it was because they were out of it...
Other takeaways. Hugh Jacobsmeyer is a beast for Olentangy. Nice work on the anchor getting by Gabelman for the 4th spot. Eberhardt from Pickerington North looked like he went out in 52 in the 3rd leg. Berlin didn't run Citro... giving up? Jerome's 3rd leg was solid and got them firmly into 2nd - likely Razor. Saketh Rudraraju was the best guy in the race not wearing a Lancaster jersey, and not named Eckert (why is he 2nd leg?). Coffman was out of it as much as Kilbourne, and they did not drop the baton. Who knows what happened there. I thought sure they'd be top 4.
Next week will be interesting. I love the heated battles in Pickerington, but now look forward to cheering on these Central OH teams at Jesse Owens. Good luck to Lancaster (get that title!), Jerome, Orange, Olentangy, Westerville North, and Liberty. I bet we'll see 4 of these teams on the podium.

One more... Owen Towler looked very strong on the lead leg for Gahanna. That 800 final will be insane - Thress, Taylor, Eckert, Citro, Eberhardt, McGraw, Gabelman, Jacobsmeyer, Towler. 1:54 might not make it to state.
Solid times from Medina and RR. Lancaster and St X seem to be on a clear collision course, but maybe one of these teams (or Mason?) can get in the mix for the win too.

I was just getting ready to mention the Steele regional. The times are better than I expected them to be. Also, The top 4 team at Fitch can’t be counted out.
Mentor 7:55.39
Jackson 7:55.20
Glen Oak 7:55.20
Solon 7:55.83
I thought it was funny that Milesplit has Iggy’s time listed as 7:60.00.
Just on the eye test, it looked like the Wayne region was the weakest for the 4x800 last night.

Dropped baton. Not sure that qualifies as choking.
Yeah, I guess my comments were unwarranted. Sorry about that.
But as Peter Gibbons mentioned, there have been people here hyping Kilbourne pretty hard. It's human nature to rib someone when they've been bragging a lot and don't live up to the expectations that they set for themselves.

Again, sorry. The misfortune sucks.
To be fair, whoever was hyping Kilbourne was talking XC, not 4x800.
Kilbourne is ready to rumble for outdoor season. Trust me, I have a firsthand experience of the types of workouts these guys are doing, and I can say with confidence that Kilbourne WILL be going sub 8:00 in the 4x800.

[back on page 8 of this thread] Whoops!
They did go sub 8:00. 7:56 at Districts. Care to direct some of your angst at Scioto? Or Coffman? Those guys were on here, thumping their chests too. Scioto didn't get out of districts, and got rolled at OCCs, per usual. Coffman didnt drop the baton and got wrecked. Or... do you no go after them, digging up old posts, because... you're a hack troll from one of these schools? I have you pegged as a Page brother. Sorry your season ended so early, my guy.

Scioto and Coffmann haven't even really come up on my radar this track season to even warrant criticizing them.
I thought that you made a good point on Kilbourne about two months back (also on page 8) with criticisms of Kilbourne and Smith dropping out of big races, so I have been following that tone ever since. You made good points there, enough to keep in my mind when following Kilbourne.
Hack troll? Not at all. Just a fan, so no end to the season, which is really just beginning now.
This happens all the time with certain regionals stronger than others and ultimately doesn't matter. Those 6-10 teams aren't going to win state so them being left out isn't some great tragedy. As long as the best team from the region make it out I don't have a problem with it, plus they have at large bids as well. Next year it will likely be a different region.
