We have higher material wealth than ever before, but are more miserable than ever. Perhaps we're using the wrong metrics to define "better off" these days. I'm starting to wonder if humanity was meant to have such cushy lives.
car dependence has ruined people. also people being glued to their phones. go run some 100 mile weeks and volunteer at your local park if you wanna feel good in this life
Do they really have nothing better to do with their time?
No they don't!!!! The sooner you realize this the better! Then you don't have to come on here and post this cry baby drivel. If you posted here before, you know what this sight is about. It's no different that me going on a bowling website and complaining that all they due is complain about people cheating in bowling leagues. Who cares. Accept it and move on.
I made a post on page 1 that hit a little close to reality and it was promptly removed. There were several other good posts on page 1 that articulately explain the unfortunate situation. Agree that it's not just LR, but everywhere (go to most any comment page on a newspaper/news website) and also agree that most of the worst perpetrators are not even runners (or may have been at one time but not for years/decades). Just say that it's part of the business model here, negativity sells.

I agree. Sometimes I find myself arguing with trolls just because they just like to argue. You'll never find common ground amongst them. After a few posts, I've had a belly full and just call it a day. You can block any poster who's messages you find inflammatory.
I've been tempted to do this a time or two. However I don't because if I did this, as an American I feel like I'd be giving up, voluntarily, my First Amendment rights. I've decided that I'll never do this. To me this would be akin to cutting off your nose to spite your face. My best advice is, if you don't care for a poster, don't read their posts. Wither you like it or not people are entitled to their thoughts/opinions. But that doesn't mean you have to read them or respond to them.
You can still look at blocked posts if you want. I blocked a couple of users (you can probably guess who) and when they post on a thread I'm reading it will indicate there was a post by then that was blocked, along with a button to reveal it. On the few occasions I did it was kind of like smelling a carton of bad milk just to see if was still bad. Just endless back and forth insults.

You could block those from both sides of a debate (drugs or politics, pick your poison) and then it'd be funny to see 18/20 posts blocked per page for 10-20 pages. Sometimes I'm logged in as registered sometimes not. But have to admit it can be fun to downvote with impunity and to see the ratio of upvotes to downvotes with some posters, 0-10% up 90-100% down. And it's all the more fun to see them rail about that because they are so utterly clueless.
