Running 4:06 for 1500 outdoors would put you 3rd on the all-time list. Barringer's 3:59 has been one of the most impressive collegiate records since it was set.
2nd fastest all-time is Sinclaire Johnson's 4:05.98. So 4:06 is about right for anyone not named Jenny Simpson, who turned out to be the USA's best middle-distance runner of all time, male or female.
I agree with the names listed above, and I also expect to see Howell from Illinois in the mile mix this year. I wouldn't be surprised if Mareno of NC State takes her cross country strength and drops some impressive mile performances this winter. She qualified for nationals in the 1500 this spring, and she seems to have gotten better since then.
Probably because that was an actual race and the first 800 (or 880?) was only 2:15 I think. Teare's was more of a paced time trial.
Okay? So no female has ever done a paced time trial? It makes zero sense that there is a 7 second gap between indoor and outdoor records. The fact that the NCAA record comes from a tactical race is bizzare. This record will be smashed in the next few years.
The reason for this is that the standard distance for indoor is the mile, but for outdoor is the 1500.
I see Stanford w/ Dudek and freshman Wilkinson capable of strong miles, Willis not so much. A dmr team of 400, Willis, Wilkinson, Dudek looks like a champion.
Counting on freshmen at Stanford is risky as 0% of their past 10 years of top recruits have performed well/improved as freshmen. Nationally, the stats are not much better as only Barnett and Appleton at UVA, Chmiel at NCst and Cook so far in xc at OSU have performed at a high level.
Tyynismaa split 4:31 anchoring DMR in 2021, and it looks like she is getting back to form after injuries last year. Gregory has a 4:32 pb and this is her last season, so curious if she goes for the mile title instead of 3k/5k this year.

They do look like a tough DMR if Willis and Whitaker forego the 800 where they might go 1-2. But Penn Relays maybe.
Take a guess what Purrier's HS PR was. Guess Schweizer. Guess Coburn. Noe Guess what they ran in college and after. And what were the Stabford girls' HS PRs. Get a clue. You have no background and only use Tuohy ad your frame of reference. The elite Americaans made huge improvements unlike Tuohy.
