4:25.91. Why is the indoor mile record so slow for Women? That converts to a 4:06 1,500, nearly 7 seconds slower than the outdoor 1,500 record. On the other hand, Teare's record converts to faster than the outdoor 1,500m record.
Okay? So no female has ever done a paced time trial? It makes zero sense that there is a 7 second gap between indoor and outdoor records. The fact that the NCAA record comes from a tactical race is bizzare. This record will be smashed in the next few years.
Probably because that was an actual race and the first 800 (or 880?) was only 2:15 I think. Teare's was more of a paced time trial.

You are probably right. The mile record is almost 14 years old.
It's by far the weakest collegiate record. Comparing it to the 3:59 1500 record is unfair (because that's probably the strongest record), but it's still pretty weak. Should be 4:22 or so. Hopefully Tuohy takes it down.
Is it harder to break because of the prelims? Looks like most runners run faster in the prelims than the finals. Maybe they don't have enough left in the finals to break a record.
Yeah I guess that's true. Well, Tuohy might do a relay so maybe we will see her anchor the DMR. I agree with the OP, would be great to see her go for the mile. I bet she could do 4:25 based on her 4:06 from last year.
Who else will be doing mile this year? I would guess Tyynismaa, Gregory, Whittaker

There will be Flockhart of Providence and some from Washington, probably BYU, UVA off the top of my head
