Was checking the forecast for Walnut/Covina where the regional is and it's supposed to rain most of the day before and the day of. I know in 2019 it only took overnight rains to make the course unusable and it was a full cement course in the parking lot with a bunch of tight turns. Any word of the race director's plans in case of rain or what the rain course will be? I assume it'll be somewhat different because Mt. Sac is almost fully renovated now.

That's why it should be at Woodward Park every year.
A rained out cross country course??? WTF!!! Afraid to get wet and muddy?

Given enough rain Woodward would be unusable as well, as the dirt hills would become too slippery to climb and descend. That is what can happen on a real cross country course, but is not a problem on your typical, stupid golf course style event.
Mt Sac has real steep hills, and the switch backs are real narrow. A slip and fall could be really dangerous in some spots. That's not a problem for the zombie mud runs like NXN or back east. Unfortunately, a real cross country course can become too dangerous to run a real race in some conditions. I'd rather have Mt Sac with a backup course in rare cases than some grass field or golf course. You can keep your mud holes and zombies. I'll pass.
That's why if you are holding a real national championship in December, you don't have it in Portland on a golf course, you have it in San Diego at Balboa Park.
