Schedule 1 drugs are defined as drugs with no currently accepted medical use and a high potential for abuse. They are also the most dangerous drugs of all the drug schedules with potentially severe psychological or physical dependence.
Seems like there is an accepted medical use of marijuana, and not really a high potential for abuse. I used to smoke weed for a while then I stopped cold turkey and I was fine, no withdrawal experienced. Alcohol or caffeine or sugar has much worse health consequences regarding withdrawal than weed and its not regulated at all.
Also, what's the point of voting for Democrats if they don't do the one thing people vote for them to do, which is to legalize weed, or at the very least, remove it as a schedule 1 drug and let the states decide what to do with it, as the founding fathers intended. Fentanyl is a schedule 2 drug to show how little you should trust what the government has to say about anything health related.
