Would have made it in 2020
can’t say, but watch out for us next year😉.
Gonna be tough, but they've got a shot. They've had some teams in the past that could have pulled it off, but they couldn't execute at NXR.
yes they will make it in 2024, with many new guys coming in like freshman phil mcracken, and 8th grader mike hawk. YES they will make it with ease, the herryman has no chance at all.
No they will definitely not make it in 2024. It is likely that the team will fall apart under the new coach. I hope the best for them but if not next year sky-ridge will fall apart in the next 2-3 years. They got lucky with the Thompson twins(and a few others) but will never be an NXR Southwest contender.
Agreed. Skyridge is losing their top 3 from Runninglane but returning their #4-7.
It will be hard for them to qualify based on what they will have left. They will need to develop a low stick and a 5th runner to have any sort of chance.
Class of 2025 is very huge on the team. The program will go down even more after those guys graduate.
Class of 2026 is small.
And literally not a single 9th grader went out for the team, which is kind of strange and surprising (there are no 9th graders at Skyridge which makes it hard to get some to join the team, but still. Herriman is in that situation too and has a good number of 9th graders on the team)
How many teams end up 1 runner short of being competitive? How much hinges on one kid progressing from being a 9:50 soph to a 9:30 kid in the fall after 1 last growth spurt and 6 months of training? Now some teams have 1 chance for someone to step up and other schools have like 5…
Seems like Skyridge will be lacking a low stick next year. Top nonsenior on the team took 75th at NXR.
Lack of a low stick on the team is something to be more worried about than ability to find a 5th
What Skyridge returns next year
Tripp - 4:24 1600 / 9:31 3200 - 11
Fuller - 4:36 1600 - 11
Greene - 4:39 1600 - 10
Tuckett - 4:42 1600 - 11
Kjar - 15:52 XC 5k - 11
I think this is a good top 5 and Tripp will be a good low stick. Not saying this will guarantee them a top 4 spot at NXR
It depends on the new coach. Coach Alvizo had done a solid job since she came over from Lehi when Skyridge opened. She'll be tough to replace. As Doug Soles has shown, coaching is a big deal.
Tuckett was the only one in this group not in their top 7, but in this race he ran a 9:37. Now they have a strong top 5. They probably need to find some depth now, maybe a 6&7, in case someone gets injured or sick
The reason why they had any kind of success in 2023 is because those guys are probably still using what Alvizo has taught them. Most of the projected 2024 XC varsity squad will consist of people that have been coached by Alvizo for at least one year, which is why they will be very good again.
The frosh-soph squad is looking very sparse so I don’t see this team being very good in fall 2025 and beyond
