Granted this was just district's, but still really impressive.
Lead.... heavy man, really heavy.
Seems like an 8th grader or Belen graduate started this thread with the classic "lead"...
His PB is 15:45. He has to be the strongest grade 8 in the country. Only a limited number of grade 9 have run faster than that.
The #1 freshman in the country ran 2 races in 1 day
Wow. Fidel Castro's alma mater has some good runners
He set the state 8th grade 3k xc record at the state middle school course just last week by 12 seconds, beating Rheinhart Harrison's record. His form was impressive, flowing and easy. The kid's got a ton of potential.
He led the team at NXN too. He ran a 179.5 speed rating
Pretty impressive.
Hopefully he will continue to develop. While MOSTLY it is the super fast middle school girls who falter in high school, it does happen to boys too.
Also, I'm not a fan of middle school kids running in high school races. I don't care how good they are.
The only time I am a fan of seeing middle school boys run varsity HS races is when they make a huge difference on a very good team.
Did you know that Belen would not have made NXN without Marcelo in the lineup? The last time they made NXN was 2011
That's the thing. If you know enough about Belen, they rarely (if at all) have kids develop beyond what you see in 12th grade. One theory is that they are run into the ground and are burnt out. Another is that the coaching is so good you see the ceiling from these kids early. And since they are at their ceiling there is no where else for them to go but down.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
