Does UC really recruit, or do people come in by their own choice without anyone telling them to?

I assume that it’s a rhetorical question. All Catholic schools recruit.
They have their kids talk to other kids.
The priests start recruiting kids from an early age - even before they’re altar boys.
Knew one of the transfers. They left on their own accord because they didn’t like their team and saw UC’s success, their good season attracted talent.
Yup that’s what has been happening at loudoun valley, great oak, Jesuit ca and Newbury park. And many many others
When I was a know it all little s-hit who thought he knew everything (I was 16) I wished I could transfer to CBA and “really train” eventually I came to my senses that I had a good program, I just wasn’t running 70 mpw. But I’m sure many talented and motivated kids who want to make the jump go through.
Some people choose to go to UC because they would rather be on a good team
Wilson’s old school Sayreville didn’t have anyone within 1.5 minutes of him. Their times were all over the place here
Of course, I mean, duh.
Aside from that, they have a captive audience of good athletes for all sports. Catholics generally are all in on sports. Those well off enough (many) to send their kids to Catholic grade school, will often send them to Catholic HS.
There is no mystery here. Catholic HS coaches around here, definitely scout, chat up kids and parents, etc etc.
If the dummies at the local public school would get a clue and try some of the same tactics...
My observations are that many schools do not need to recruit. Students recruit players from summer leagues etc, many individuals want to play on a better team, parents think it will increase scholarship opportunities for their child, and many athletes want to be coached by someone they feel is a better coach.
Not enough to get this team to NXN huh
