So long story short, I got long COVID which kept me basically bed-ridden and unable to exercise at all for about 1.5 months. Prior to this, I was running 6 days a week without any issues. I'm just starting to try to exercise again and tried just walking at first. I'm trying to jog now, but I can barely jog 20 min at my old easy pace without my HR getting higher than it should be after the first 15 min. My legs also get sore after these easy jogs now which is a sensation I haven't felt in a long time. I find I even need to take the next day off to recover. Am I just really de-conditioned? How long will it take for me to get back to my former fitness?

I don't see any regarding running after Long COVID specifically. I've also been incapacitated for longer than most people here who got COVID.

Yes, you've lost a lot of fitness. It may take you a long time to get back to former fitness. It took me 8 months, and I wasn't nearly as sick as you were. But if you're younger, maybe you'll recover quicker.
In any case, it doesn't change anything. You start with how fit you are today and try to push your fitness a little bit farther each week. Push gently. You can't force it.

You should take it very carefully. Viral infections can infect almost any tissue including the heart. If there is some residual heart inflammation exercising hard can cause an arrhythmia and people die from such things, even young people. I believe that is what killed Steve Larson, an arrhythmia doing track intervals following a viral infection. Such instances are rare but still occur. Safety first. Long covid is poorly understood so I think that is more reason to be cautious.

Let me add one more thing. I had long covid, knocked me completely out for 3 months and I lost a year of exercise. As I was trying to get back it reminded me of when I learned to run at the Honolulu Marathon Clinic eons ago. Gave me the idea of writing an app to help the sedentary start exercising safely but it would also be useful for the post-covid person. My app is now in public beta. It will help you assess when the covid infection is really over and help you get back into exercise safely. It is an apple app so you need an apple device but check it out while it is free.00
