There will never be a WW3 - too many high-yield nuclear weapons among the super powers. All that would get you is Mutually Assured Destruction(MAD) where there are no winners & Earth is pretty destroyed with nuclear winter. Humans want to fight to win a war - not commit suicide. To pull the button isn't just his own decision but first have to be decided at 2-3 levels before him.The Russian law tells nuclear weapons can only be used if the Russian states' existens is threttened, and that we know isn't by far the case at this stage. The only existens threttened is the Ukrainian by Putin and Russia.
Like, in a matter of weeks/months, I'd put the chances of global conflict at 25% or greater.

Russia's army SUCKS. The US military would wipe the floor with the Russians and it would be over quickly and should Putin puss out and go nuclear that doesn't count as a war, that's a world ending event. There would be no more wars to fight. Hence the reason the US hasn't done anything yet. They are afraid Putin is crazy enough to push the red button
Putin is very well aware that more than 6000 nuclear missiles are pointed at his direction. I think that is secureness even for him to not start Armageddon.

There is talk of expediting NATO membership for Ukraine. The Pentagon has bombed their pipeline. Putin is send 300,000 more Russians to fight. This situation is about 100 times more serious for Putin than the US. If it does escalate, do you think Putin will refrain from launching an attach directly on continental US? What will wake up and turn voters off this war more than bombs dropping on the US? Yes, Yes, Yes. M.A.D. But, Russia and Putin are already likely thinking that they have very few options… why not put the US in the same position? Why not make this war real for Americans… he and his generals might easily think. If thing do escalate, I see this as a highly likely scenario.

Who is blame for the Ukraine situation. Well, can I suggest that the US's NATO empire building is the real problem. I also believe American foreign policy is designed to weaken the EU. For example, it could be argued that the UK exit from the EU was largely caused by the massive waves of middle-eastern/African refugees flooding into the EU, and, of course, American involvement in Afganistan, Iraq, Syria, Libya, and now the Ukraine is the cause of those 10million refugees. And it should be noted that barely a handful of those refugees were taken in by the US.
And yeah OP I recently blogged on here about how I'm legitimately terrified of nuclear war and while many commenters shared my sentiments, there were a lot of nihilists telling me to stop worrying and accept my fate. I know they were trying to be helpful but honestly that's insane to me. And I'm worried the cabal that runs this country thinks the same way. Some people said "you can't control it." I thought this was a "democracy" but I guess not. Sorry for rambling but I'm just really passionate about this.
