Is 'lane 8' a not-so-subtle request to get the heck out of the track? I have never seen a public 8 lane track in my life! The public track next to where I live has built-in timing sensors with bluetooth connectivity, but not the lanes beyond 5.

Here in Thailand every track has 8 lanes. I think I've only seen one track with fewer than 8, and that one is right nextdoor to an 8 lane track.

I always run clockwise to warm-up and cooldown but the rule at our track is you go into lanes 5-8.
