So I went for my weekly track workout yesterday around 7 because I can’t go earlier and sunset is right around then, so it gets increasingly dark well before I’m done except for a couple emergency blue light posts around the track.
Yesterday was clockwise running day (for balance reasons), and there’s little running traffic there, so I as usual pick lane 2, always leaving lane 1 for regular counterclockwise runners out of courtesy. It’s never been a problem before as sunlight was there or floodlights were on for some game in a lacrosse field nearby.
But yesterday, this only other guy who also started running at some point decided to have a problem with me. He took lane 1 and after a few rounds of us passing in adjacent lanes while it was getting increasingly dark and difficult to see, he got flustered and yelled “there are so many other lanes” pointing to lanes 3-9 expecting me to go further outside. I ignored him entirely. He moved to lane 3 or 4 and didn’t like it I suppose, so when it came time to meet again after another lap, he just stopped running, stood on lane 3 and was waving both arms bending into lane 2 yelling “EXCUSE ME… EXCUSE ME” and I just told him “I don’t want to talk to you” and continued my rep. He screamed “A$SHOLE” and then left the track. Good riddance.
AITA? I had set my watch to lane 2 and didn’t want to interrupt my running. With only two people running, how can someone be upset that I’m running clockwise on lane 2 and demand I move further out?
