Seattle prep wa looks good for next year
Cda didn’t put a single guy under 16 here
At this point, the state rankings to me look like this.
Rocky
Boise
Idaho Falls
CDA (in a small meet CDA moves up as far as second)
BK
How about girls rankings headed into championship season?
Boise, Rocky....who else?
1 - Boise
2,3 - Rocky and Preston toss up. Slight edge to Rocky. They beat Preston by 2 pts twice.
I think it’s a big gap to anyone else, but I’m not positive.
I think that Rocky is in the drivers seat at number 2. Just like their boys, the girls haven't really raced a full lineup all season. Somebody will probably step up.
Rocky will win the NXR NW meet if they show up healthy and ready. A healthy Rocky Mountain team beats a healthy Jesuit team on that rough course.
Rocky’s 5th needs to close the gap on their 4 if they really wanna go to NXN.
It looks like Rocky is moving backwards. Every single boy is closer to guys they beat head to head previously, either last week, at Inland Empire, at Firman, at Caldwell…
On the girls side, Heywood is in a dead heat against Johnson after beating her soundly twice this season, McCune is 36 seconds back from her after losing by 3 at Caldwell, Buhrley is even further back…
I tend to think this is a tough week in Idaho to put much thought to. It’s the last relatively unimportant week before districts and state. Lots of runners are training through it or just don’t give 100%. Maybe Rocky did, I don’t know, but it’s tough to analyze the week before district.
Workout day, run, easy run, 6x1k @ race pace, long run, off, easy run, 1.2 miles @ barely faster than race pace with a hard .7 rep after, 30 minutes, race day.
Where are they training through? That’s 10 days leading into this race. 1.9 miles of hard reps 2 days before isn’t going to cook legs.
Either you are on the Rocky team, or since you're dissing them: more likely, you follow them on Strava or something.
All I'm going to say about yesterday is that the race went out really slow and was tactical. First mile for us in the lead pack was 5:05. It was just a slower race up front and most of the Rocky boys had nothing to prove. They were supposed to win 25-90 in the hypothetical meet.
I'm not on Rocky, but I want them to be the first Idaho boys' team to go to nationals. Yesterday was just a toon up race. Nothing more, nothing less.
Well if Rocky doesn’t end up making it this year (which I’m sure won’t be the case unless there’s no at-large in this region), CDA (with a better 5th) or Boise Senior (might need a better 5th too) look good for next year.
Rocky has nice depth too and young talent too. But will need to reload.
Idaho falls will need athay back
It's called training through. I hope they're not in peak form in mid-October.
It looks like some of their boys were in peak form in mid-September.
I think Rocky will win state, but it's way too early to act like they have it in the bag already. Timberline's #1 & #2 ran 15:40 and 15:45 on that same Inland Empire course in much lower quality fields than Inland Empire (Hill ran 15:28 and Lucas ran 15:34). Those boys ended up taking 10th and 12th at the Boise City meet, losing to 5 Boise guys each. It wouldn't be unreal to think that Rocky could go 1-2, Boise puts 3 boys in the top 10 and all 5 in the top 15 and Rocky places their #3 in the top 15, and rounds out with top 20 finishes. In theory, you could see Rocky with something like 1-2-11-17-20 and Boise with 4-7-9-12-14. That puts scores at 46 to 51 in favor of Boise without taking out individuals. I think you could absolutely see Rocky's points get diluted by Timberline 1 & 2, Centennial 1, CDA 1 & 2, Mountain View 1 & 2. Those are just the teams likely to make it.
I heard they peaked for Tiger-Grizz this season, everything since then has just been for fun
But for real, a handful of their guys ran their best compared to the kids around them at Caldwell and have slowly been moving back in fields compared to the same kids.
If you're not a Rocky boy, you're one of like 3 dudes or the race went out plenty fast for you. Judging by the heavy bias and knowledge towards District III teams in your first post, I'm guessing you're either Nate Stadtlander or a Rocky guy, more likely a Rocky guy.
