Yes, I transferred there last year so I can speak to the process. There's a rigorous tryout that happens twice/summer (one in June and one in July) and the team will support admission for anyone who completes it.
My tryout looked something like:
- 3mi warmup (6:00pace off the rip, any mile slower than 6:10 and you're cut)
- 2.5mi tempo (every mile 5:10 or faster)
- 3 minute rest during which you must complete a set each of 5 x 225 barbell bench and 5x385 hex bar deadlift (Gibby will spot you and any reps not locked out or bounced reps will not count. I had to do 6 on bench because I bounced my first rep.)
- 2.5mi tempo (every mile 4:50 or faster)
- 3mi cooldown (again, 6:00 or faster -- maintenance pace or bust)
Piece of advice for you: Gibby has been known to follow athletes around on an electric scooter while downing pepsi maxes (at least 3 bottles/workout) and he will throw the empty bottles at your feet as a "focus test", so keep an eye on him as best you can.
