This is a mean post and doesn't add anything to the discussion. Your post insults her unfairly and unnecessarily as well as insulting other women who have children and are good enough to run professionally. Also the first analogy about motherhood and medieval times didn't even make any sense.
There sure are a lot of deleted posts in this thread. The ones questioning the timing of her pregnancy relative to her training or career in general are being downvoted but staying up. So what types of worse things are being said?
We often delete things that are off topic. People always think it's something bad but that's not necessariy the case. For exampel, a post saying something like "this provees conservatives do it better" got deleted because it is off topic and not necessary and we don't want this turning into a politics thread. Similarly , a post trying to compare Purrier to Allyson Felix was deleted as we don't want this turning into some racism debate. Also bunch of posts commenting on how her husband hit the jackpot were deleted as was a post post wondering how good the sex was was deleted.

It’s normal human tendency to look at a couple and have an opinion on who was the luckier one and whose traits they might want the baby to inherit in what proportion, so not exactly off topic. That said, Elle has said in an interview when asked who was her greatest inspiration that it was her husband, an answer I found curious because it’s unusual, but probably answers what some folks are wondering.

There's nothing dangerous about exercising while pregnant, especially in the early stages. In fact, exercise is encouraged
Yes, I’ve read that too. I’ve also read that the risk of pregnancy loss by heavy exercise is significantly higher very early on. Also racing is a contact sport with the risk of accidental falls that can cause a pregnancy loss even much later in clinically confirmed pregnancies. Most couples don’t plan for such a timing like theirs, but it is understandable if it happened unexpectedly. But to each their own.
In women with a history of miscarriage, higher levels of physical activity were associated with a greater risk of subclinical, or very early, pregnancy loss, according to new research. Among women with confirmed pregnancy, ph...

It’s not normal, it’s stupid and sad.
We disagree. It’s very normal even for a partner to want their baby to have the other’s strongest features and not their own features if any they happen to consider not strong. Most of us pick mates consciously or subconsciously thinking about the offspring we might produce with them.

Thats not normal. Normal people do not think that way. Insipid speculation is the work of cretins.
Gratuitous jerkdom. You must think the overwhelming numbers of women preferring taller men and wanting their sons to be tall like their partner are insipid cretins.
There is no universally accepted moral, ethical, or social justice principle forbidding speculation about kids inheriting their parents’ traits.
Appreciate the transparency and taking of responsibility. It's your board, you can do what you want. But if maximizing traffic and broadness of discussion are the goals, then light moderation is better. Sure, eliminate wildly off topic comments, anything porn or foul language, obvious spam, and other commercial interests intruding. But beyond that, diversity of opinion is a good. As stated on a previous thread, everyone who has changed history for the better was first thought of as a crank, heretic, or nut job. The broader media is so conformist and predictable these days, it is refreshing to see varying viewpoints. There is a strong likelihood that a lot of what is conventional wisdom today will be blown out of the water in the coming years.
Actually due dates for pregnancy are based on a 40 week gestational period not 9 months, so she would have been pregnant at worlds as the previous poster correctly pointed out
My wife is due with our 1st child on March 3, 2023, so similar timeframe. She took a pregnancy test after being 1-2 weeks “late” on July 5th confirming the pregnancy. Her 8 week appointment was around 7/21.
Based on that, I’d assume with great confidence she not only was pregnant, but likely was aware of being pregnant at WC’s mid-July if she is due “early March”.
Exciting news. Honestly if she wants to have a family (which it seems pretty clear she does). Choosing to have a child during her prime competition years makes sense. She is 27, it’s been proven time and again it’s way easier to come back from pregnancy the younger and healthier you are. This is true of more than just pro athletes. Plus she already has made multiple WC teams, an Olympic team, set American records. She could retire tomorrow and have an accomplished career. Choosing to have a baby shouldn’t be considered a death sentence to her career. My guess is she will have this baby, try to come back, depending on how her return goes she might stay at the sport for a while longer into her mid 30s or I could see her choosing to have a second or third kid. Either way I don’t think we are done seeing Elle run fast times, the timeline just looks different.

YOU can be in denial, but people who live in a space where that seems "normal" must have a problem with themselves.

Saying the same thing over and over without any justification doesn’t make it true. I take it you’ve never attended a baby shower or heard the banter at one.
