Meh. Fisher is on the way up, Krop on the way down. Fisher is 2nd behind Jakob in Budapest
I have nothing against Fisher -- great performance from him. But why all the threads for the 2nd place 27 year old runner? What about the up-and-coming 21 year old 1st place runner?
Maybe because this is a US running website and a US runner named Grant Fisher ran very very well.
Letsrun covers all of track and field - international and domestic, all disciplines. Distance running is this sites main focus.
It has been a while since a US distance runner has been able to consistently be in the mix with the worlds best.
Therefore, it is only natural to have so many threads on Fisher setting a new American record and being in contention to win a DL race. I think the last time an American won a DL distance race was Chelimo. So for Grant to come. into the world class upper echelon last year at the Olympics and this year to have set four US records - that is a big deal for US distance fans.
Everything here is just an opinion and I have mine. We have a different system here in the US, college's develop our athletes, at the same time over racing them. If you look at the college athletes that turned pro after the NCAA's most fizzle out badly toward the end of the year. I think Grant Fisher will medal in either the Olympics or World Championships. Each international race get's him closer to what it will take and he was extremely close in both the 5000 and 10,000 in Eugene. Taking nothing away from the other runners, Krop is a great runner, but look at Seleman Berega. What did he do this year? I'm pulling for Fisher and I think he will come through.

Racism
Think harder. If Grant Fisher were Black, this board would still have all sorts of threads devoted to him ... because he would be American-born, and this is an American board.

Fisher is great, not just really good, it is really hard to win anything out there anymore.
College is hardly over raced anymore, if you look at XC, what do the best guys run? Maybe Pre Nats..8K, maybe Conf, some guys get held out of that..8K...Regions, some teams are good enough to not run full there and Nats , if you Q. Guys are raced much less than decdes ago, that rap got laid out there when the U.S. was grinding guys into the ground..maybe? I will say, that the NCAA runner, does not get very many uninterrupted training blocks, that is a certaintly.
Fisher ran this 5K
26:33
He probably can run 3:34.00 or under by now, he had run 3:35
He checks all the boxes and then some, and still may never win any World or Olympic Titles
And for all the BS about not being American born? He has been here since at least 4 years old.
In addition to running, Fisher was an avid soccer player. He began playing the sport when he was four years old and in high school was a member of the Michigan Wolves, an elite level club team
The negativirt on this message board never ceases to amaze me. Fisher run a great race (in a great season) - a PR and AR, and someone who likely has a PR of well over a minute or much more slower than his mark comes on here and slams him about never winning a GOLD in future. Simply incredible.

Frankly insane to be critical of Grant rn. He ran to win this one and is running every race in Europe he can including the verkochte weird track DL Final. He’s mixing it up. Also the Canadian thing…please. He would have an easy path to make the team if he went the route but he’s much more from Michigan than Canada. It is hard to win gold right now, how many studs do we have at one time unlike the Farah era? Krop, massive talent. Barega the best Ethiopian prospect since Bekele. Cheptegei and Kiplimo both prodigies. Jakob the best European 15/5 prospect ever.

Yeah, devoted to how he cut off a white runner like Mu supposedly cut off Keely.
