Manangoi won every championship he entered before his injury and ban. Tim was definitely the dominant 1500m runner in the world from 2019 -2021. And even his surprise loss at the Olympics, braved an injury to win the Diamond League final. Jakob was not dominant last year, and he still isn't dominant this year.
Jakob is not yet dominant like Tim, Manangoi, Kiprop, El G and Morcelli were before him. He won the Olympics but still went on to lose to Tim and this year he lost both at the indoor and outdoor worlds.
I don´t think Managoi was dominant as the other four.
And apart from (doper) Kiprop none of them were as dominant as Jakob at age 21.
Jakob is not dominant at all. He was 0-10 against Tim prior to the Olympics. He won 1 race. And then, in his first opportunity to defend that title, he lost.
Jakob: – Jeg tenker at man må respektere folks konkurranseplan.
Posting in Norwegian - great way to hide your thoughts. Haha.

I maintain that Elijah wasn´t dominant as E-G, Morcelli, Tim and Kiprop.
Elijah´s career until now isn´t much better than Jakob´s at a age where Elijah hadn´t a single medal yet.
------------------
If Jakob wasn´t the dominant miler in 2022 who was?
El Keniano I generally agree with most of your takes, but in this case I don't think it makes sense to compare Kiprop to others; EPO and recovery drugs make it significantly easier to stay on top for 10 years (: ... I know you think Kiprop only started doping later in his career but I don't think there's any reason to believe that. Of course it's certainly possible Jakob or Tim are doping (although I hope neither of them is, and think Tim in particular has high integrity/morals), and is indeed likely that El G and Morceli were, but for the purposes of the conversation I feel it's better to just stick with people who haven't had confirmed positive tests.
Definitely agree that Ngeny>Ingebrigtsen at age 21; we'll see if Ingebrigtsen has the career longevity that Ngeny struggled with.
After 2019 World Championships, there were only a small number of T&F meets, just glorified time trials. For a few reasons, none of them great, U.S. prefers to host Olympics in the summer when U.S. is uncomfortably warm and humid. Eugene did the same thing, hosted World Championships during summer heat & humidity. Hosting W.C. in the middle of the summer means there will be numerous meets after W.C. World Championship was the peak T&F meet this year. Jake Wightman no doubt peaked for W.C. J.W. does not owe anyone another opportunity to beat him this summer at 1500m. Jake Wightman is a 1500m man. Jake W. is not skilled enough at 800m to get out of World Championship 800m semifinal. No doubt Jake W. will race 1500m next year at W.C. Blame S. Coe for World Championship being held unnecessarily in the middle of the summer, don't blame Jake W. Jake W. is racing 800m at European Championships for fun. January, 1985 after Dan Marino set all the passing records during 1984 season, Montana out dueled Marino in Superbowl. Montana did not owe Marino a rematch in March or April, 1985. Montana no doubt told Marino, See you next season. J.I. has to wait until next season.
I'm sure the world championships were held in July instead of August or September because of the risk of forest fires in late summer/early fall. I think hotter weather in July is more preferable for a world championship than dangerous air quality in August. Also as someone from Florida I think it's funny when people say that Eugene is hot and humid.
Why even mention an athlete who has been done for drugs! Or, an athlete who clearly was on something.
Because El K and it seems 80% of posters here don't care about doping cheats, at least African ones.
It's hardly surprising Kiprop was 'dominant'. He doped in an era when even the Moroccans were being tested and (save for Nick Willis and the older Ingebrigtsens) the soul of non-African middle-distance running had been sucked away by the previous full throttle EPO era.
The moment proper testing is introduced into Kenya and Kiprop gets busted and not long after, his prodigy Manangoi gets stuck in 4 am traffic jams on the road to Rongei. Meanwhile, British, Australian, NZ, European, American middle-distance runners start to grow in confidence knowing they are finally competing on a reasonably level playing field for the first time since the early 80's.

Manangoi likely will be remembered more as a doorbell-dodger than as a champion. For me, it's hard not to presume that he was doping when he missed all those tests.

Lose translation:
You have to respect peoples (Wightmans) competition plan. It is set before the season, and if you (the journalists) had been following along a bit better you had known that this was something that has been descided a long time a go.
I recon its an answer (and a good one) to if Wightman is ducking Jakob. Stand up guy defending Wightman!

That's an understatement - Jakob's achievements are already clearly superior.
