don't recognize that name - should he be a junior/senior?

I don't know that his grade is off but it seems to be his 3rd HS in 2 years assuming milesplit is accurate.
rewatched the video. he ran with better form (smoother) and looked to be in control of the entire race. he also doesn't lose form in the last 3rd.
predicted it right. msj beat gilman by 1
Calvert Hall looks very good for next year
they bring back 5 of their top 6
Could be one of the top teams in the SE next year
Severna park has so many guys entered
Calvert College should represent the state well at NXR
5th place by Calvert College. Only 2 seniors. Nice

And what is up with Rei Nettey?

Looks like he is a Calvert Hall soph according to this
What happened to Doetschman from Calvert College?
He ran a 16:10 at the Wilmington Beach Blast in September. At NXR he ran a 17:44. At state he ran in the 18s
Undefeated on the state level. 7th at the National Championship. Fastest time from a Maryland athlete in over 20 years. The future Seminole had a monster year. And her times really spiked in her senior year. Should be interesting what she will run on the track.
Leah Stephens, From Good Counsel HS, I believe is the fastest Female High School athlete to ever run a 5k out of the state of MD. Researching MoCo runnings database I could not find another girl that has run below 17min from the state of Maryland. Looking at Leahs times in Milestat she was running in the high 20's in 9th grade and has made an incredible transformation during her time at Good Counsel lowering her 5k time nearly 4 minutes in her time there.(Kudos to her coach!) Leah is a once in a generation type talent and for the most part has flown under the radar of most national observers until her run at Champs XC..Florida State has really made out like bandits on this recruitment..
Calvert Hall College placed 5th at NXR (even after graduating most of the varsity), and they return 5 of their top 7 (4 of their top 5) next year
Cameron Davis - 11 - 15:15
Rei Nettey - 10 - 15:55
Stephen Gonzalez - 11 - 15:58
Luke Doetschman - 11 - 16:10
Cort Schroeder - 11 - 16:17
Elliott Palmer - 10 - 4:38
Hayden Malstrom - 10 - 4:44
Lucas Archer - 9 - 4:46
Max Larcher - 10 - 10:25i
Nice group set up for 2024 as well
not sure what state is - is it the “Maryland private school” meet?
If it’s held in early-mid November at Georgetown Prep, it’s always been a slow course, but they changed it in 2021 which made it even slower - instead of circling around the baseball field and tennis courts, the middle mile is significant rolling, slanted hills on the golf course. Times there are routinely 1+ minute slower than fair courses

I don't know what she was doing in 9th grade, but she was a very good runner years before that. Maybe she was hurt or something her freshman year. I'm kind of bearish on her future, she may be near her ceiling but I'm happy to be proven wrong. You are quite right about her being among the best, and possibly the best distance runner from MD. And yes her coach has done a great job but they didn't turn water into wine, she was always a good runner.

It sucks. Period. And I hate to criticize because GP is a fine school, lovely campus, nice people. Brand new outdoor track too. But the XC course is a straight up stinker.
Agreed. I ran on it in the first year and my time was more than a minute off of my PR. It’s still an enjoyable course, but it’s the last place I’d want to run a fast time on.
It wasn’t fast before but was fairer. The start will always be annoying, but you’re dealing with narrow and slippery terrain for an entire mile now. I’m sure the overall elevation gain is probably close to 300 feet as well
Look at her times in 9th grade and then look at her progression over the next several years ..Good Counsel did a wonderful job with Leah.

20:15 at prep is not "high 20s" (By any definition of "20s") and her placings were good. And again, she was a very successful runner before HS. One "off" year doesn't make GC coaches miracle workers though they certainly did a fine job.. Honest question: Do they actually train her? Or does she have another coach? Her school doesn't seem to have any other notable distance runners these days.
