Good thing this website exists to call out peak performances at major championship event. Why would there be so many best times at the World Championships?? What kind of athlete tries to peak for an event like this? One using a "sus" timing system!!
Thank you basement-dwelling incels of LRC / pubescent high school XC runners; you have come through once again.
Nigeria's Tobi Amusan ran an astounding 12.12 in the semifinals of the women's 100m at Worlds, breaking American Keni Harrison's 12.20 mark from 2016 as both...
watch the start of this race. the gun clearly fires twice. My theory is that the athletes reacted on the first gun and the timing started on the second gun. this would be about the .1-.2 difference in time that everyone is so skeptical of.
Just hours after breaking the world record in the semifinals, Tobi Amusan posted an even lower time in the finals - the wind was too high to count as a world...
Fred Kerley edged out fellow Americans Marvin Bracy-Williams and Trayvon Bromell for gold, winning a 100m World title and leading the first American sweep at...
After Tobi Amusan of Nigeria smashed a hurdles record at the world championships, the former gold medalist Michael Johnson raised doubts about the race’s unusually fast times.
This is something I posted elsewhere earlier today:
Regarding Amasun’s 100m H, I did a rather unscientific test and got results of 12.24h, 12.34h, 12.24h, and 12.08.
The first three results, I hand timed a video of the race from Peacock TV, which suffered from not seeing the gun when it went off (and any potential audio lag). Then converted by rounding up to the nearest tenth and adding 0.24. Actual timing results were 11.97, 12.00, and 11.91.
For the 4th result, I downloaded a copy of the race video to my computer, and then calculated the difference between timestamps on the video from when Amasun just rose out of the blocks to when she finished (11.94 seconds). I then added in her reaction time from the championship website (0.144 seconds).
I think the last result is more accurate than the first three, unless I'm missing something. Made me think the times are legit.

Sixth in Eugene was faster than the 1991, 1995, 2003, 2005, 2015 and 2017 GOLD medalists.
Grant Holloway repeated as 110m World Champion and teammate Trey Cunningham took silver in a final that saw two empty lanes next to the eventual gold medalis...

There's no double gun. You're hearing the echo of the gun reflecting back from the stands.
The production audio utilizes dozens of microphones around the track and stands to cover the action. There's no way you can tell from a mixed video feed what the actual sound was like trackside any more than say, a pro football broadcast sounds like the actual stadium sound.

Not sure what category you put him in, but don't forget Michael Johnson:
I think the LetsRun Internet gang has done it again. This time we've discovered Earth is ever so relatively slowly falling into the gravity well of a black hole. Rulers are shrinking, perceptions of time appear to differ. Yes, the Internet sleuths have this one figured out - never in the history of any other meet have we seen so many records broken. Nevermind the field is absolutely stacked in almost every event, shoe technology has changed, this is a fast track, and all of the exceptional events have been 410m and less in the hot weather... No, it must be this supermassive black hole we are falling into. Or localized black holes rotating geosynchronous at the timing system in Eugene Oregon. Or something. 🤔 Surely there is a good ole LetsRun forum conspiracy that will be cooked up without any evidence except, "lots of fast times = impossible absolutely no investigation required"

oh my god…. no
is this satire?
It's a top 1% of dumbest posts ever on letsrun and that is very selective company
anybody have a link to the results of this race? it was in indianapolis on july 16, 1988.
Quarter final 1 had wind of 0.0
Quarter final 2 had wind of 0.0
Quarter final 3 had wind of 5.0
in the 100H case, it’s not the wind reading, but some type of glitch with timing mechanism.
was interested in the actual results too, but finding that tough to come up with.
no clue why people are giving me downvotes for asking. curious if similar amount of athletes got PBs as someone else mentioned, or if they are making that up.
