great point, im sure having 5 jamaicans and 5 americans in every sprint final + 5 kenyans and 5 ethiopians in every distance final will truly encapsulate the meaning of a world championship
Diversity and equity. That's why the stands are empty.
A minor concern to most here, but a word for Aimee Pratt of GB who ran a national record in the semi and now a new national record in the final. It's only 9:15 but she brought her best self to the biggest stage and 7th is a really good result for her, beating Coburn and Wayment. You can't ask for more than that
i agree that it was a great result but why do you have to conclude with nonsense like "you can't ask for more than that"? why can't you ask for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th or 6th?

Well, you can if you're being unrealistic. Pratt came to Eugene with a PB of 9:25, she's leaving having run 9:15. You can't control how fast others race, but if you run your best ever race on the biggest stage, you've done very well.
Coburn needs to get out of Colorado for a little while and train in Florida. Humidity is the poor women's altitude. She just can't take the heat.
It won't help at this stage of her career. Steeple has always been a second tier event but faster women are running now than 5 years ago. I think to have a good chance of medaling now someone needs to be a sub 4, sub 8:30, sub 14:40 runner.
This. She's had a wonderful career but after all that still has never broken 9:00; that doesn't take away from her championship successes but if she was starting her career now she'd be nowhere near the medals. The event has moved on.
She’s the goat and is actually a clean goat. Syd just dominated. She could smoke Miller Uibo. Can’t wait to see it. She is a true thoroughbred. There just hasn’t been an athlete like her maybe ever.
