Gutsy race from Emma. Smart race from Courtney to realize she would be in over her head going with the leaders and ended up with a SB in the heat as a result.
great point, im sure having 5 jamaicans and 5 americans in every sprint final + 5 kenyans and 5 ethiopians in every distance final will truly encapsulate the meaning of a world championship
World athletics bodies really needs to get involved with more stringent rules for which country you can represent.
It's a joke when people are representing countries they didn't grow up in, have never lived in, were never born in.
It's makes the whole concept of national pride in olympic/world championship events look dumb.
If you weren’t born in a country, but you move there, live there, are a citizen, and are invested in that country, why shouldn’t you represent the new one?
Abdi, Meb, and Lagat are all good examples US athletes who fit this bill. Lornah Salpeter is another good example of this type of situation.
I totally agree about these athletes who have never and will never live in the country they represent. I wonder if Jeruto has even stepped foot in Kazakhstan.
Coburn needs to get out of Colorado for a little while and train in Florida. Humidity is the poor women's altitude. She just can't take the heat.
It won't help at this stage of her career. Steeple has always been a second tier event but faster women are running now than 5 years ago. I think to have a good chance of medaling now someone needs to be a sub 4, sub 8:30, sub 14:40 runner.
Could someone provide a backstory as to why she is running for Kazakhstan? Did she keep missing out on Kenyan teams? It was strange she had no Kazakhstan flag or anyone to celebrate. Kind of sad actually.
I saw an interview with Coe on BBC this afternoon. Maybe he was just playing his cards close to the vest, but it was a bunch of nonsense about how this way is very fair because they’re not trying to ban DSD athletes outright, and right now the science shows no advantage in other events. So didn’t sound too committed to a ban.
I think Coe is very "impressed" with what FINA did.
I'll never understand how "inclusion" became the most important thing in some people's minds.
