Maybe a stupid question about Knighton. He's only 18 and seems to have a perfect body for this event combined with his technique. Long limbs, very slender. As in any sport where you have to propel your body - skating, gymnastics, jumping, running - there's a prime strength to weight ratio for each individual. As Knighton continues to physically develop, could that change, but not necessarily for the positive? I would imagine his team has no plans to make him noticeably muscle bound.
Kerley ran two 400-meter races at the start of 2021, and afterward his ankle was “swollen like a balloon,” Simms said. Kerley could run straight without pain, but turns demolished his ankle. Simms entered Kerley in the 100, 200 and 400 at the U.S. Olympic trials.
Lyles is probably taking this. He made 19.63 look easy his curve was by and away the best and then he was nothing but relaxed on the straight. He clearly had a bit more to give.
Knighton also looked very good (I mean 19.7 is also blazing) but he looked like he was giving all he had. Lyles looked like he still had another gear left.

If he'd gone to college they would've pumped him up and ruined him
Yeah, he didn't say he was injured. He said he cramped.
So many things can go wrong, early—fail to transition from start to turn, fail to lean correctly and enable speed, fail to change gears soon enough, gripping if an inside lane comes up on you early, etc
The World feed play by play guy is such a breath of fresh air. So passionate. Knows everyone. Knows every event. But mostly just loves track and field.
I don’t mind Devers just chiming in with very little because he’s enough on his own.
Watching these Jamaican women sprinters is like watching the East Germans in the '80's. For the same reasons. Deja vu all over again, as they say. One of the smallest athletic pools and absolutely dominant, for years on end. The only way you can care about this circus is to not see that it's a circus.
