Early on in one's career, it sure seems worth it to work a little more for a huge salary boost. Later on in life that time might be better spent with family.
And yeah, that was kind of a long way to ask the question.

You are wrong. The definition of a boss is someone who can hire or fire and end your employment with a company. A customer, although using your service, can not fire you. To actually be a boss you must be an employee. So you are telling me all my customers are my employers? And they all will issue me a W2? You trying to be smart, but you aren't quicker then me
We are all evenous of your debating skills. 'Your' smarter 'then' all of us.
I am just waiting for him to peddle his job offers to the gullible ones who take his bait. This is how the hackers on social media do it.
That's exactly what I do now. Went from $77k as a teacher to 3.5x that in 5 years.
LMAO this thread is great. The long, unnecessary rambling in the original post. The over-the-top hostility in his responses. Fantastic work, 10/10.
Lots of folks work for others and do this sort of thing.
I also thought you were quite redundant. I was wondering when you were going to make your point. No reason to call somebody a loser when he just stated basically what everybody should be thinking is the obvious.
OP, you are perfectly describing my life. I run a small printing company in my basement. It's going on 30 years now, and my daughter will be taking over when I retire next month.
I started the company so I could stay home with my kids. Things were slow at first but I was busy with dad duty, anyhow. As the kids grew and needed less attention, the business grew, too. It has been more successful than I ever dreamed and I work very much as you described. Some days more, some days less. I work almost every day but never terribly hard.
I also take vacations whenever I feel the urge and can always take a run at any time.
As to comments about bosses; yes, my customers are sort of my bosses, but I can fire them as easily as they can fire me. I haven't had to send very many packing but there have been a few.
It's been a wonderful life.
