Schweizer is entered and on the start lists for both the 1500 and 5000. 1500 heats are Thursday at 18:53, final Saturday at 13:40 and the 5000 Sunday at 13:18. Of course, she has already qualified for the 10,000 by winning the US trial on May 27. Maybe she's trying to do a "Hassan".
Cheers,
Alan Shank
Thanks Mr. Shank! The voice of knowledge and credibility. Glad that you're lurking over here after the many great TFN forum posts!
She discussed this in her podcast with Emma Abrahamson, she is planning on doubling the 5K/10K at worlds if she makes the 5K team. She mentioned wanting to run another 1500 before the season is over and if she runs it at USAs it would be a tuneup. She has no intention of trying to run the 1500 at Worlds. You are always retroactively changing incorrect post subjects, you should change yours.
I'm not going to change anything. The fact that she may turn down her spot on the team doesn't negate the fact she's trying to finish top 3 in the 1500. If she also finishes top 3 in the 5000, she will then turn down her 1500 spot. But let's say she finishes 2nd in the 1500 and 4th in the 5000. She would then run the 10,000 and 1500 at Worlds.
I mainly started this thread to ask if anyone has ever finished in the top 3 at USAs in the 1500 and 10,000 in their career besides Francie. I think the answer is just Lopez Lomong. Paul Cummings was never top 3 at USAs in the 1500 or 10,000, but he did win the 10,000 Trials in 1984 according to Wikipedia. So in 1984 did they have a regular USA 10,000 and a separate Trials race? Jon Sinclair won the US Champs 10,000.
First, I want to acknowledge that the truth has come out and she is not doing this. Thanks Rojo for once again demonstrating that you do not need to be that smart to attend an Ivy.
Now my response to the low-intelligence post above. I disrespectfully disagree with your sentiments as is the correct way of looking at it:
"Lets get excited about someone attempting to do something that's already been done, but at a lower level."
BTW, this is my second post on my thread, so to say I "keep saying it" further demonstrates low attentive and cognitive abilities.
You’re not coming off as intelligent as you seem to think you are, but that’s none of my business.
Carry on
1.) The intention of my post was not to display my (superior and clearly apparent) intelligence, but to point out how un-intelligent the response to my post was. Whether I come off as "intelligent" or not is irrelevant and immaterial to this discussion, something you are not perceptive enough to discern.
2.) You said this was "none of my (your) business," yet you decided to make it your business by interjecting yourself into our discussion. Curious.
Schweizer got shafted by Cranny going out too hard in Portland. She is definitely in 3:58 shape and is a legit contender for the team, especially if Elle takes it out hard.

Your post says that she is "trying to make the team" in the 1500 and that is not what she is actively doing. She is trying to make the team in the 5000 and 10,000 not the 1500 and 10,000. I highly doubt she will run the finals of the 1500 and I would expect that her goal is to get her legs spinning and try to break 4 then 2 days to prep for the 5k. It would be suicide for her 5000, (which she clearly stated is her goal) to run the 1500 finals 24 hours prior. Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm betting you are. Last chance to change the subject before you look silly(er).

If Karissa runs top 3 both today and tomorrow, she better 'turn down ' her 1500 spot because to try the treble next month means possible top tens in 5000 and 10000 and not making the 1500 final. Karissa could jag a medal in either of the longer events at Worlds if that's all she enters
