Karissa Schweizer is trying to make US team at both 1500 and 10,000. What other Americans have EVER done this?

Sifan Hassan already did this in 2019 and WON GOLD in both. She tried it again IN 2021, but ADDED THE 5K and came home with three medals (1500m bronze, 5k/10k GOLD). Cool for Schweizer I guess, but it doesn't move the needle just because she's an American when someone already did this the last two World Championships and went home with 4 golds (5 medals in all).

What's the reason for doing the 1500 instead of the 5000? Is the 10/5 double not doable at Worlds but 1500 comes well after the 10,000?

This makes the 1500 a bit more exciting and the 5K.

I amwilling to bet that she runs the prelims of the 1500 and then scratches from the final no matter how well it goes. Jerry likes to put a race in prior to the 5000.

Hassan was also so doped up she could haave used her blood for gasoline. Schweizer of course comes from BTC, with its irreprochable reputation.

Where is this information coming from? She is declared in both the 1500 and 5000. If she is only running the 1500, she has a tough battle as that is a very good field.

I could see her opting out of the 5000 so there's a spot open for Vanessa Fraser.

She discussed this in her podcast with Emma Abrahamson, she is planning on doubling the 5K/10K at worlds if she makes the 5K team. She mentioned wanting to run another 1500 before the season is over and if she runs it at USAs it would be a tuneup. She has no intention of trying to run the 1500 at Worlds. You are always retroactively changing incorrect post subjects, you should change yours.
