He was well-positioned for so long in 5th/6th, then he just let Gressier go. One time, he should just throw caution to the wind and stick with a good pace instead of waiting for a kick. He might surprise himself. I don't think he's less talented than Gressier so a 13-low is there for him
I'm surprised no one else talk about Gressier race. One one the most impressive run i've seen by an European in distance races.
13'08 with this heat is probably worth sub 13.
Some people do not like the Frenchman (Gressier), because they consider him to be flamboyant and boastful and prone to showboating such as in the European championships, cc, when he won in the junior category doing a lot of showmanship at the finish line, in full view of his rivals.
However, in my opinion, Gressier is one of the bravest French distance runners of all time and it is ironic that this year he has posted two very fast times 2724 for 10,000 m followed by 1308 for 5000 m in very inclement, hot conditions. His true worth right now is around 12:56/27:05. He will aim for the 10,000 m in Eugene and I think he might be the first non-African in that race and a possible top 8 position, or better. The 24-year-old is an absolute beast. I was listening to the French commentator on the channel L’équipe, Bob Tahri (former steeple chase superstar) saying that he advised Jimmy to drink beetroot juice every morning which McDonald’s frequent customer Gressier has acquiesced to, despite finding the taste absolutely horrible.
jeez was miller uibo tying up or was she just slowing down? she looked like she could have run 48 easily
She was not tying up. She just slowed down and pretty much stopped running. You will note she started to look around and did so several times at around 325M.
Was not impressed with Allen's new 7 step start to the first hurdle after his recent success with 8 steps. Looked like he was lunging forward to that first hurdle.
He seven-stepped last weekend in NY, he's that unimpressive.

What? Have you not seen this European named Jakob Ingebrigtsen run? Way more impressive than Gressier over 5k winning his last two races in 12:47 and 13:02, and that’s not even his primary distance.

To you as well, in what world is Gressier beating Ingebrigtsen? “Top European and might be top 8?” It will likely take a medal and quite possibly winning the race outright, and certainly not 8th place, to be top European ahead of Jakob. Other guys like Katir could certainly revert back to form as well.

Is this supposed to be a joke? Or have you just not watched any non Africans in the 10000 since 2010? If you had then you'd know guys like Fisher and Klecker will be the top non Africans with Fisher having a good chance of finishing first. Period. He's a gold medal threat. While Gressier is good I don't think he's at Fishers level in the 10. He's likely similar to McGorty

Sorry, but Fisher isn't winning any gold medals or medals of any colour. Ridiculous statement.

Big respect to Fisher and Klecker, and on paper (Fisher almost 1 minute quicker than the Frenchman in the 10,000 m ) they appear stronger than the Frenchman, but in an Olympic final when there are many other factors, I think the Frenchman could surprise a lot of people and challenge for first not African. I’ve been following Jimmy for years and in terms of guts he’s right up there at the very top. Not the most talented athlete, but for guts and ability to run in adverse conditions such as the two races we’ve seen him running this summer in very hot conditions and yet posting very good times, Gressier delivers. He reminds me of Steve Prefontaine in many respects.

I am referring to the 10,000 m in which both the Norwegian and Spaniard will not run. I was not referring to the 5000 m where obviously the Norwegian and the Spaniard have the upper hand over Jimmy. J.I. is in a class apart, and I never denied that. I absolutely never even inferred that Jimmy G would beat the Norwegian. I think you misunderstood me. Jimmy said in the TV interview last night on French television L’équipe, that he was going all out for the 10,000 m in the world championships which he feels is his best distance.

Fisher is not a gold medal threat. He couldn't close out the win in a 28 minute race, what's he going to do against guys like Barega who can close a 26:50 race in 51 seconds? Fisher and Gressier have one objective in Eugene and that's to be relevant in the race. Fisher got 5th in Tokyo but he was never a factor in the race, no one ever had to be concerned with him or any moves he might make. That's the next step for him. That might mean leading for a spell in the middle, squeezing the pace, or just doing something to not be another forgettable face in a big field. Same for Gressier. Rupp was less talented than a lot of the people he beat for silver in 2012, he just ran smarter and made himself a factor in the race. There's learning points there
I'm shocked the commentator mentioned Miller-Uibo said the 400 M may not be her thing at Worlds. She's thinking the 200. But during the Diamond League race clearly she eased up and purposely slowed. Still won with a 50-ish finish. I don't see her getting beat in the 400. I think she wouldn't be first in the 200. Price, Sha'Carri are just two of the competitors she could lose too. I see her as the winner of the 400. I find her statement a little shocking.

Couldn't win in a 28 minute race? Do you actually think he was anywhere near his peak shape or even had a great desire to win that one? Remember, the guy that beat him may very well also be in the top 5 in Eugene. Klecker is extremely good. Fisher has jumped to another level this year and Eugene will likely take place during normal conditions, and not Tokyo's horrendous 75 dew point. Those conditions are a clear advantage to lightweights like Barega, who's only 117 pounds. Fisher has 20 pounds on him. Maybe, maybe not not clear gold medal threat, but then who do you think is? In your mind its only Barega? I think Fisher belongs in the top three, and there is no clear winner there. Any one of them can capture gold in Eugene.
