OMG, and what if it was too hot, or too cold(like your porridge), or God Forbid drizzled..please, get a clue..You cannot get it too much better..the race wasn't even that far off schedule..the weather perfect for 800M Running..a frigging Rabbit, which for HS Record purposes is sketchy at best to begin with. Welcome to "weenieville" folks!!
What you're doing is the equivalent of the NBA finals only having women's basketballs instead of men's basketball, so they play with the women's basketball. Would you be like "big deal they are pros they'll be fine, I used to play basketball with a 30 pound rock when I was growing up"???
Do you tell your boss "so what if my report is only have complete? you're a grown man you can make do with half of a report"?
Would you care if your surgeon forgot his tools so he did your surgery with a steak knife? That's the problem with people now, nobody takes pride in doing their job the best they can.
Someone is bad at critical thinking. None of these things are the same as a little delay. A basketball being delayed 40 minutes isn't going to make everyone in an NBA team bad at basketball.
A late report isn't good optics but protects and reports come in late all the time. I can wait 40 minutes for an important report.
My surgeon starting 40 minutes late is not going to make much different outside of an emergency and running a little late isn't doing surgery with a steak knife.
If my next 5kbis delayed by a few hours no biggie, I'll just run a few hours later.
Remember when the US trials last summer were delayed because it was so hot? Do you think that stopped guys like Cole MF SHOCKER and Centro from going out there and competing? Sydney McLaughlin seemed to do alright with the time delay. It’s a part of the sport plain and simple
The .03 second difference equates to about 0.028%. If he ran 0.028% faster, the record would have been broken.
Do you think the 40 minutes difference could have affected a person's performance by 0.028%? ABSOLUTELY.
Only if you are mentally weak. In 2001 MLB playoffs were delayed by Jeter wasn't a mental wearing so he adapted.

All athletes are affected equally by the meet running late. Cade went out there and dominated by 4 seconds at a level playing field.
But it's a fact that racing 40 minutes late would affect the times that everyone is capable. In this case 3 hundredths of a second cost him, and all of us, the record.
Today was supposed to be the most exciting day of 800m racing in high school history. New Balance spoiled it.
Except the race wasn't run late at all.
Looks like we have a bunch of desperate Nike trolls trying to invent a BS situation to try to embarrass NB, who have put on an excellent meet so far. Just need a new announcer.
I think king999 knows what he is talking about. Every post of his is spot on. Never seen such a variety of excuses for almost a perfect setup for Flatt.
Karma is a b*tvh and I can promise you that it’s coming for this kid if he continues to swing his d*xk around. Grossly fast but he’s a grown man in high school who’s talking trash with very little setback or struggle. Had every pro race imaginable to get into this year when other talents don’t have the chances he did. He should be thanking his parents for giving this much of a crap about his running. Not many care enough to get first class treatment in HS running. I hope he doesn’t pull a wesfly and be left looking goofy come college when reality hits hard. I think he’ll be a 1:44 guy come the end of college but not remarkably better. “I don’t wanna be that guy who peaks in high school.” Yea bud no one wishes that, but be careful what you wish for nowadays. I’m all for the humble people who know their place in this sport.
I love this kid! He has been so entertaining to watch run and talk. He definitely has the track world buzzing. It also doesn’t hurt that he is gorgeous! Give us more Cade Flatt!
I ran 1:53 high and in high school but my teammate was good and ran 1:51. We had schedule issues all the time and it was more annoying than detrimental. I remember our typical 800m race warmup:
10 minutes easy (probably 7:45-8:30 pace)
Sprint drills (high knees, butt kicks, A+B skips etc) * most important part in my opinion
Strides (maybe 8-10 80m long)
Race. (First lap is essentially a gimme and when you hit 400m the real work starts)
400m race warmup was the same but probably slower jogging and a bit less. You’re 16-18 years old. The body and heart rate are ready to go.
I think Bill Spalding was really good, soloing most of the time and trying to bring some knowledge to the broadcast. Knows his T&F and was more than credible (and I watched at least 2/3 of live feed.
Jaysus, you're tough to please. Go listen to Paul Swangard then.
for y’all downvoting, curious as to why you find it so easy to cheer for him. Does he not come off as arrogant and significantly full of himself? There’s confidence and there’s this
