Not really an actor, but Anthony Bourdain’s sudden passing still makes me sad. I really loved his shows, and always looked forward to hearing his perspective during his travels. He definitely had his demons, but he felt like a genuine and mostly down to Earth guy.
well that's arguable but note that I wrote "live rock lives on with these three."
sure it's all recorded so the music will stick around and none of them is making new great music anymore.
But big-show classic rock is going to die in the next 10 years and that is a massive tragedy. One of the best things human beings ever made and it's all going to stop very quickly.

Hey hey, my my Rock and roll can never die There's more to the picture Than meets the eye. Hey hey, my my.
Thinking about the past, I was devastated when Stevie Ray Vaughan died. Can’t imagine a world without Springsteen still performing, let alone one where he’s gone.
A world where Rock is dead, even sadder to contemplate…..
People try to put us d-down (talkin' 'bout my generation) Just because we get around (talkin' 'bout my generation) Things they do look awful c-c-cold (talkin' 'bout my generation) I hope I die before I get old (talkin' 'bout my generation)

to my knowledge there's just one A-list first-gen rocker left alive...Jerry Lee Lewis, at 86. Probably there's someone else.

Chubby Checker, Chuck Berry (is he still alive?), Dolly Parton (she will be inducted into rock hall of fame this year), Jagger and McCartney.

dolly is no rocker
chubby....he's the same age as the beatles, stones and the who. Born 1941. But yeah he is pre-british invasion so he might count as 1st gen by some definitions.
Beatles stones and who are second gen....meaning post-Elvis.
One of the amazing bits of history was in the 1958ish-1963ish period. Elvis was done and in the army, chuck berry was in jail, Buddy Holly was dead, little richard had quit....rock and roll had died for the most part. Most thought rock and roll was dead, just another fad.
It took a bunch of 20 year old british kids to get it going again. And then it flew. I'd give a lot to know what it was like to hear She Loves You in 1963.
Utterly amazing how many rockers were born in 1940-1941 and came of musical age in 1961 playing American music for UK audiences. They made the guitar the instrument of rock instead of the piano.
They may be gone, but their music/movies will keep them "alive" forever. Our priorities should be recording our aging relatives to try keeping their memories "alive" for future generations.

Eddie Van Halen passing. As a guitarist, I always marveled at his style and technicality with writing his solos. He was one of the giants of rock guitar and gone way too soon.
Neil Peart hit me hard. Partially because I admired his musical and lyrical prowess. Partly because it was so sudden to everyone but his closest friends.
Robin Williams was no more a comedian than Jim Carey. Acting stupid isn't funny. In fact, most of the world does that on accident. Williams never once made me laugh.
