How many NCAA athletes ran 10.72 and were a US champion less than one year ago. It was pouring rain during the race, the fastest men's time was 10.3. She also beat a decent field of pros. Context matters
Are you drunk? She wouldn’t even be a lock to make the NCAA final.

It was pouring rain and certainly not ideal conditions for a sprinter. No one was going to go sub 11. She had a terrible start but closed impressively. She looks very good and your assessment of her race doesn't seem to stand up to journalistic integrity standards.

Meh. She didn’t beat anyone that’s really all that relevant in the medal race. Not even close. She’ll be very lucky to run 10.9 this year. Meanwhile the WR might actually go down this year. Richardson is only relevant because she’s a walking stereotype. I stand by the fact that she wouldn’t be a lock to make the NCAA 100m final this year. Forget WCs.
It's better than I thought she would run in her first race back. How long has it been since she last raced? Ages. Let's hope she improves with every race and is then back to her best. I'd like to see her quit marijuana and do well. She could use CBD instead (one that is certified as THC free).
The 2nd race looked so staged so she can get an IG moment for an “I’m back” post. She got left at the start again but beats the field (whoever didn’t have a flight to catch) with an 11.27.
Like I said, she has 11.3 talent. She will run somewhat faster than that, based on prior use, and even on present use—but 11.3 is her natural ability. Same as many other “greats”: 11.3, maybe.
And yes, I believe that there are some continued benefits after having stopped use for some time—but with the new stuff, the sooner, the better.
So when is the wonder girl going to open her season o redemption? In the initial press release she was one of the big names for the USATF Bermuda Games but now she is not on the start list.So when will she race again or is she...
This is so stupid. You think she was on drugs at 16? When she was running faster than 11.3 in high school? Don’t be absurd.
She may well have been on PEDs running at trials as much as any elite athlete is likely to be on PEDs but it’s silly to act like this race in the pouring rain after 9 months off and complete life chaos represents her ceiling.
Anyway, hard to tell anything from this race. At least she got back to the track. Conditions were awful and her start is horrible so perhaps that can improve if she puts her head down and works. She hasn’t left herself much time now though, and if she’s scrambling to try to put it together for world trials on sketchy training she’s more likely to get injured.
Hopefully ending that toxic relationship will get both women back on track, literally. Janeek was also pulling the “I wasn’t put on earth to run track” business (and only ran 5 races in the last couple of years.) Lots of people speculating she was on drugs in those videos, and that she and Sha’Carri were doing a lot of drugs together. She needs to stop surrounding herself with toxicity, stop pretending she doesn’t care about competing (or quit if that’s really the case and not just a childish immature “I didn’t want to win anyway” tantrum because she’s not winning), stop letting herself be gassed up, get rid of Gatlin who did her no favours with those stupid comments about practice and find someone who can set a reasonable, patient, consistent path to success.
It honestly was. The whole thing was embarrassing. There was no communication with the fans as to what was going on (delays, moved races, etc), so I can only imagine it was a similar situation for the athletes. Start times were ambiguous. Women’s HJ was set up and ready to go and Inka was the only competitor over there. It was announced that all (3) women’s HJ participants to go to the apron. Still only Inka remained and then all of a sudden they put the standards away and the cover on. I guess they got her to jump later in the meet, as there is a result, but we’ll after I left.
They had the first heat of the men’s 100 and apparently the timer wasn’t ready for the direction switch so those times were lost. The remaining 100 heats were just made to stand/jog around without any notification of the delay. Then all of a sudden they were called off and the women’s 400 were called onto the track. Being an active part of track for over 20 years… this was the most ill-run track meet I’ve ever been to. I brought my partner with me who had never been to a pro meet before and is not at all a “track person.” I was embarrassed for my sport and regretted bringing him.
