Ok, I realize he got the national standard, but I’m sorry to say, it’s over. He has every right to keep racing, and maybe he will make the world team, but it’s over for him. Waiting for Evan to really impress is now the same as waiting for Bekele. It’s sad, but it’s reality. There is no shame in it. He’s still an all time great and deserves all the respect, but the sun has set on Evan.
It's kind of like watching Michael Jordan playing for the Wizards.
Exactly. It’s not fair to the athletes, but past history and accomplishment is both a blessing and a curse. Bekele runs 2:06, and we cry. If Fauble ran 2:06 we would lose our minds. Just a fact of life.
I love seeing a guy run a season's best and hit the US standard after major injury and still be called washed. The guy has the most rust out of anyone to be busted. It'll take time to chip away. I'm calling 2nd at USA's and top 8 in Worlds. Not his best, but a hell of a comeback year for sure
I went on a run today in SoCal and thought "man, this is a great day to race". Overcast with no wind is usually a recipe for PRs, so I'm a little baffled why nobody is doing so.
