Does anyone know any good runs around 8 to 10 miles like that are close to the strip. Perferably a route that has soft dirt and is within 10 miles of the strip.
thanks

There are so many conventions out there, I'd be surprised if there wasn't something close by. Anybody know?

Oh, and I think the answer is no.
I have run through the UNLV campus (don't know what direction that is) and into the neighborhoods behind it. You can also get on the UNLV track. A lot of people run up and down the strip, but you run into a lot of cross streets.
Someone can add some routes here
I found my experience running in Las Vegas to be awful. Best of luck to you.
My girlfriend goes to UNLV and Ive visited her a number of times and found some decent places. First if you wanna run through campus, its a lot of concrete, but the campus is between Tropicana and Flamingo about a mile east of the strip. The place that Ive started running when I visit is a bit further and more boring, but way better on your legs. If you go down Trop to Eastern and take a right on Eastern, Eastern will take you to Sunset, on the left is Sunset Park. There is a dirt loop that is supposedly a mile, but I think about 20 seconds long. Its a pretty good surface to run on, its just a bit boring. The best place to run though is Red Rock Canyon, which is in the mountains west of the strip and there is a 5 dollar entry fee or 20 dollar yearly pass. If youre trying to get a lot of miles in, it might be worth it to go there. Check it out at

I hope that helps, have fun in Vegas. Im dreading a possible 20 miler on new years there, we'll see how it goes.
Just run up the road from the strip. Run like you would be running toward where the old marathon started. Once you get past the strip there is dirt next to the road. You can either run to the park where the old marathon finished and be on dirt all along next to the airport or run out further up the main road and go on forever.
CAN YOU BE SPECIFIC FOR THOSE WHO DON'T KNOW THAT MARATHON COURSE? JUST LOOKING FOR NON- CEMENT THE WHOLE WAY RUNNING. SORRY ABOUT THE CAPS.
