No talent to begin with, probably one of the slowest runners on LRC, and I didn't run from age 18 to 33 (2002 to 2017) really. I missed out on my prime. I ran in HS but was slow. I didn't run in the 2000s because my ROTC instructor scared me, telling running was bad for my knees and I'd have to get replacements. Later I found out he overdid it and ran on concrete only.
The bad news is I may never run 2:45-2:50 but the good news is I am not chasing ghosts (had I set those PRs and then tried to beat them at 38-40 I might not ever get there and it would make me frustrated).
The good news is whatever PR I get, I get as I age, and I still have lots of miles on those legs.
