I've ripped all my CDs to WMA format on my computer and am thinking about nuying and Ipod nano. Will have to re-burn all the CDs to be able to sync them with the nano? IS there a way to convert all my music files without re-burning them?

when you add music files or folders in iTunes, iTunes creates a duplicate copy of them in .m4a (apple format) if the files you are adding are not either mp3 or m4a. Thus, since you are trying to work with WMA's, iTunes will create identical files and folders of your music in the iTunes folder in your My Music folder. So, don't worry, if you see music showing up in iTunes, it is formatted to work/transfer to your nano (nano...).
