The thing you're forgetting is that when William & Mary had that proud distance program, Dan Stimson was the Director of Track & Field. Juice led the program for years with tremendous success overseeing Gerard and Gibby on the men's side, and PVR and Kathy Newberry-Gibby on the women's.
While Alex Heacock may have been a little young to take over the role of Director and certainly caused some alumni to shake their heads, the program was tanked before 2017. The Men's 14-year streak of qualifying for NCAAs in XC (and 16 out of 17 years) ended while Stephen Walsh was the coach, and he took over as director when Juice stepped down shortly after he came on board.
Clearly you have an axe to grind, and maybe you're at W&M now. If that's true, you need to learn some history before you point the blame at Heacock. That falls squarely on Walsh.
