Except that its an opinion about a US event. An event policy that is inconsistent, prejudiced and par for the course for people who support the Current Thing.
Why punish the private individual for the sins of the government?
Where does this end?
I am sure a large portion of the population of Boston and vicinity disagrees with many of the laws of the State of Florida. Should runners from Florida be banned from the Boston Marathon in order to make a political statement?
There are about 40 entrants listed from Ukraine. Most of them are from Kyiv, and a few are from even worse off places like Kharkiv and Kherson.
I doubt many of them will make it to Boston. Some of them may be fighting to protect their homeland, or may have had their homes blown to smithereens. Most of them have loved ones who are in danger or even dead. Those who do make it will need to spend days getting to and crossing the Polish border amid checkpoints and countless refugees, then arranging travel from there.
So, I could give a crap about any Russian runners who don't get to go on their little marathon vacation. The BAA's position, by the way, is entirely consistent with all the other worldwide sporting organizations that have banned Russian athletes.
The Russian median income is $5500/year. Do you think any Russian who was planning to fly to Boston is just a regular everyday citizen? No, they're among the richest people in the country. They're the precise people who need to learn that their country is now an international pariah state and will be forever until drastic changes are made.
This isn't about some government policy that other countries don't like. It's about an unprovoked attack on a neighboring country followed by war crimes, all recorded on video for all the world to see.
So to hell with them. We don't need them. Boston doesn't need them. They can enjoy the lovely Moscow Marathon or Minsk Marathon. If you don't want to be treated like lepers with oozing lesions, stop killing thousands of people in other countries.
And how are these foreign runners going to get to the U.S.? Aren't the flights from those countries banned? Besides, I heard that Putin's making it very difficult for ordinary russians to leave the country. Furthermore, any of these runners that did make it to U.S. probably would file for asylum... imediately after the race.
Is it all Russians and Belarussians? Or is it just passport holders of those two countries? I'm sure there could be numerous Russians that have immigrated to other countries and hold a different passport now.
I'm not sure to trust your opinion on international affairs, but that might just be me.

I'm happy that money held by these rich Russians is being seized, their boats and yachts seized, damaged and sunk, and that they can't run in Boston if they want. And I see you all are good with what Russia is doing to Ukraine.
Good for Boston. Russians are being banned for other competitions also, I believe. Their outlaw state is massacring civilians in Ukraine. It's the least we can do.
I'm sure Tucker Carlson will say this is terrible. He seems to have a thing for Putin. God knows why. (I wish we knew why).
Ban runners from China who "support a communist regime" then. Cancel culture /SJW BS has no consistency. Do they really think all Russians should be categorized into one? Pretty absurd but that's typical SJW garbage. Emotional and not logical.
Agreed. Please include all entrants from the newly fascist regime of Canada on this irrational “banned for where your mom happened to give birth to you” list. Don’t forget Australia, Austria, New Zealand, and Singapore. They have all also definitely turned up the totalitarianism in the past 2 years.
